Job Description
The Iowa Department of Public Safety (DPS) is seeking to fill aCriminal Intelligence Analyst Seniorposition within the Department's Division of Intelligence and Fusion Center.
Organization Background:
The mission of DPS is to serve the people of Iowa by providing public safety services with leadership, integrity and professionalism through the core values of courtesy, service and protection. The Department is a statewide law enforcement agency and includes the Administrative Services Division, the Iowa State Patrol, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, the Iowa State Fire Marshal and the Division of Intelligence. The Department works in conjunction with federal, state and local jurisdictions of the criminal justice community to provide for the safety of persons living in or traveling through the State of Iowa.
Job Description:
+ Perform operational intelligence analysis by providing direct, critical, front-line intelligence support to ongoing or continuing investigations. It is essential to have the ability to critically evaluate information from multiple sources and determine the importance and limitations of each piece of information.
+ A Criminal Analyst Senior position will analyze cellphone data, financial records, computerized databases, open sources, and social media records to provide intelligence support to criminal investigations and to identify criminal activity; conducts cellular telephone analysis and mapping; will critically evaluate information, draw inferences, and apply logic to perform analysis; and accurately prepare written reports and communicate findings.
Other Information:
• The selected candidate must have passed a thorough background investigation conducted by Iowa Department of Public Safety investigators before a final letter of employment offer is delivered.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from an accredited college or university plus two years' full-time work experience compiling, interpreting and evaluating criminal investigation or intelligence information;
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting one year of the type of experience described above for one year of the required education with a maximum substitution of four years.
