Job Title: Criminal Justice Specialist

Job Summary:                                                   

CASES is seeking a Master's level mental health clinician to join our team as a FACT Criminal Justice Specialist. As a key member of our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team, you will provide community-based treatment and services to clients with high fidelity to the ACT model. Your primary responsibilities will include: Conducting outreach and engagement services to build relationships with clients in the community. Providing psychoeducation and support to clients to promote their mental health and well-being. Serving as a liaison and advocate for clients within the criminal justice system, including: Providing court updates and coordinating care during incarceration. Writing advocacy letters to defense attorneys on behalf of clients Collaborating with other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive support

As a FACT staff member, you will be expected to be a generalist and specialist, providing a range of clinical services based on your areas of experience and interest. Salary: The salary for this role is $65,000 per year.          

Shift Hours: This position is full-time Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. 

Location Address: 151 Lawrence Street, 4th Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11201. Our office is easily accessible by public transportation.

Workplace Flexibility: 

This position is Flexible: This position has flexible work flexibility where for which staff have flexibility to complete their work day from home or another suitable space, typically after reporting to the office and/or engaging in field or community-based work.

What you will be doing: 

Provide at least 80 percent of treatment contacts in the community and complete expected minimum monthly treatment contacts, including leading groups when clinically indicated;Attend and participate in daily team meetings to discuss clients’ clinical and case management issues and needs;Complete documentations required by the NYS Office of Mental Health (OMH) and NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s (DOHMH) licensing guidelines, NYS Medicaid billing guidelines as well as per CASES ACT Policy and Procedures;Liaise with other stakeholders who are involved in clients’ justice involvement (e.g. Correctional Health Services, defense attorney, judge, court diversion programs, etc) to advocate for client care and services;Collaborate with client’s support network and other service providers on treatment planning, service coordination, and case management support with the goal of promoting client’s recovery and stability in the community;Provide clinical services that are anti-racist, gender-responsive, culturally humble, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, client-centered, and evidence-based.Complete required documentations and toxicology tests for clients with active Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) order;Provide 24-hour crisis intervention on-call services on rotating basis;Provide culturally competent services in accordance with CASES policies and practice.

What we are looking for: 

LMHC, MHC-LP, LMSW, LCSW, with current New York State license; Experience working with individuals with serious mental illness, and/or co-occurring substance use disorders;Experience with various evidence-based models pertaining to treatment of substance use, and mental illness;A team player, highly organized and self-motivated;Individuals with lived experience are encouraged to apply.

Preferred skills but not mandatory:

Experience working with individuals involved in criminal legal system preferred;Fluency in Spanish preferred.
