Job DescriptionThe Crisis Team Qualified mental health professionals (QMHP's) work in the emergency department completing risk and safety assessments on patients identified by the medical team to need further mental health evaluation. QMHP's work with individuals experiencing varying mental health crises. QMHP's assess and work with patients and other multidisciplinary teams to determine the most appropriate plan. QMHP's also respond to other clinics/sites within the hospital as well as the crisis line when individuals are in crisis.
Primary duties include crisis intervention, risk assessment, diagnostic impression utilizing the DSM, and short-term stabilization services. Treatment is provided based upon sound theoretical principles, with knowledge of the special issues and needs of the population served. The incumbent develops treatment strategies to meet the multifaceted needs of a diverse population, with attention to the policies and procedures of the organization, and is expected to interface with both internal and external treatment providers.
Minimum requirements
A Master's Degree from an accredited program in social work, psychology, counseling, or related human service field is required
Licensed in the state of Missouri – must keep license current to remain in this job assignment
5-7 years’ experience working in a social services role
Expert level knowledge of psychiatric terminology and the process of mental illness and community resources
Demonstrated knowledge of the theory and practice of human services at the Master's level
Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work with multicultural staff and clientele
Completion of training as directed through orientation and/or by Leadership, Management or Educators in the established timeline for continued employment
