Monterey COMPASS Programs
COMPASS (Comprehensive Assessment and Stabilization Services) is a short-term residential program, with an anticipated length of stay of up to 10 days. COMPASS serving youth ages 8-17, will provide intensive, individualized assessment and diagnostic treatment services to support youth in crisis when there are concerns for immediate safety. COMPASS is an intentionally small program, serving just 4 youth at a time. We provide youth with an immersive therapy experience with both individual and family sessions, daily groups to develop coping strategies. Youth meet with our mental health counselors for therapeutic groups throughout the day in which we focus on development of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy coping skills and wellness education. Youth also meet with our psychiatrist or health services team for assessment and medication management. We work collaboratively to ensure youth return to the community with the necessary skills to avoid future crises and maintain stabilization. This unique program is changing how mental health services are offered to children and adolescents in Monterey County.
