Crisis Specialist

$1000 sign on bonus; $500 at sign on, $250 after 6 months, $250 after 12 months

Under the assigned supervisor, the Crisis Specialist works as a team member to support the Crisis Care service team and individuals in community in crisis. Team consists of Supervisors, Crisis Director, therapists, case managers, MHP, QMHP, and individual in crisis. The Crisis Specialist will provide crisis response services,  engage, advocate, support, and maintain  a direct working relationship with individuals and families during crisis times, including follow up and community linkage for crisis stability.

 

Job Duties Include:

Provides crisis response during on call rotation within required response timeframe Response to crisis will occur in person, phone, in office, or video per approved service delivery by program and or supervisor Must be able and willing to work outside of regular office hours, weekends and holidays as needed Requires demonstrated ability to work constructively with clients, other providers and the community Requires knowledge of community resources for referral purposes-  Requires understanding and ability to put into practice the Mental Health Code and Confidentiality Act. Requires understanding and ability to put into practice applicable agency policies and procedures Must be able to engage and work effectively with individuals involved in mental health crisis, substance abuse crisis, or other identified community crisis Works cooperatively with other agencies, community partners (local law enforcement, hospitals, schools, etc). Must be able to interact professionally with court personnel, therapists, medical   personnel, law enforcement and all other professionals that may be encountered. Works jointly with other disciplines to arrange services beyond scope of practice for peer engagement specialist Completes all necessary paperwork within 48 hours Completes concurrent documentation at time of service with clients; Provides client information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines, to other agencies or healthcare providers to coordinate services to identified clients Adhere to mandated reported act Must be able to observe and submit accurate written documentation regarding any interaction providing service Must be responsible, organized, personable and be able to work independently. Must have basic computer skills Must have effective communication skills Must be able to identify and communicate any concerns to the appropriate supervisor Must be able to participate in other meetings and staffing as appropriate and requested Must be able and willing to transport individuals (adults and children) while following program safety guidelines Must be reliable and flexible to the program needs. Must be able and willing to attend and successfully complete any required and/or requested One Hope United or DHS/DMH (funding) trainings Must have reliable transportation and be able and willing to drive daily for work related purposes Must have a general working knowledge of and respect for diverse cultural norms Testifies in court when subpoenaed or as directed by the Supervisor Teaches and provides resources to link individuals to community resources, (e.g. medical counseling, applying for housing, energy assistance, WIC, food stamps, substance abuse providers, etc.) as needed Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education

  High school diploma / GED

Experience

Peer engagement/home visiting experience desired Funder-required lived experience as a consumer of mental health or substance abuse service Funder-preferred 3 yrs post-lived experience

Other

·       Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record with OHU required levels of coverage for auto insurance

Community resource experience preferred

Required Skills 

Basic computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Ability to write routine reports and verbally communicate in a clear manner Ability to speak effectively before groups or individuals  Ability to exercise discretion and ensure confidential
