About the job:The Critical Care Educator promotes quality through education and development with emphasis on patients, families, and/or caregivers.  Job responsibilities may vary according to assigned area.  Maintains a working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, the Organizational Integrity Program, including the Guiding Behaviors, Standards of Conduct, Code of Ethics, as well as other policies and procedures ensuring adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behaviors.  Complies with current law and policies to provide a work environment free from all illegal and discriminatory behavior.

Key Responsibilities:

Education & Training: Develops, implements, and evaluates orientation, in-service training, and continuing education programs for critical care staff. Utilizes adult learning principles to foster professional growth.Competency Assessment: Assesses staff learning needs, designs targeted educational programs and evaluates effectiveness to enhance clinical performance.Program Development: Collaborates with subject matter experts to create educational content, integrating current research, best practices, and regulatory requirements.Patient & Family Education: Develops and documents patient and family education plans to support informed decision-making and care management.Regulatory Compliance: Ensures adherence to healthcare laws, policies, and mandatory training requirements. Keeps current with trends in nursing practice, healthcare standards, and accreditation requirements.Collaboration & Leadership: Works closely with hospital leadership, managers, and staff to align education initiatives with organizational goals. Serves as a resource and consultant for clinical and professional development.Research & Continuous Improvement: Contributes to hospital-based research, integrates evidence-based practice into training, and facilitates learning opportunities for nurses to apply research in clinical settings.

Qualifications:

Education: Masters Degree in Nursing Education or MSN.Licensure: RN Indiana License. Board eligible upon hire or within 12 months.  Obtain nursing certification through ANCC within 18 months of hire.Experience: 3-5 years previous experience in critical care (emergency department, critical care step down unit, intensive care unit or surgical ICU.
