Critical Care/Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Manager

Job Description: We are seeking an experienced and dedicated medicine pharmacy manager to join our leadership team. As the medicine pharmacy manager, you will manage a group of pediatric and adult decentralized pharmacists and clinical pharmacy specialists. The primary areas of oversight in this role will be responsible emergency management, critical care, cardiology, and neuroscience. You will liaison with nurse and physician leaders on behalf of the department of pharmacy. You will be responsible for leading people both clinically and operationally. This position requires a combination of excellent verbal and written communication skills, clinical and operational expertise, and a strong commitment to patient care.

Key Responsibilities: 

Supports the senior director of pharmacy, director of operations, and the acute care pharmacy director  Mentors and develops a team of clinical pharmacists  Provides direction and guidance for safe processing and dispensing of all medication for assigned areas  Helps to develop quality improvement initiatives and ensures adherence to quality measures  Manages various personnel functions such as hiring, training, performance appraisals, payroll, scheduling, coaching, rounding, disciplinary actions, and terminations, and adequate inventory of pharmacy products and supplies to meet department needs  Helps to identify, prepare, and coordinate medication utilization evaluations, cost savings initiatives, and monitors compliance to pharmacy initiatives   Addresses issues or services requiring intradepartmental coordination proactively, using rounding techniques Ensures the utilization of medication safety principles to assure positive therapeutic outcomes  Exchanges information and provides input for inter-and-intra departmental meetings  Uses a lens of equity in all aspects of patient care delivery, education, and research to promote policies and practices to allow opportunities for all to thrive and reach their potential  Provides program level management as well as shift specific management in areas of responsibility  Prior to implementation of new policies and guidelines, ensures that appropriate communication and staff education has occurred  Other duties as assigned 

Minimum Requirements:

Education: BS in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) from an accredited pharmacy program 

Experience:PGY-1/PGY-2 or 3-5 years of relevant hospital experience required, Previous relevant clinical practice or leadership experience preferred 

Licensure/Certifications: Virginia State Board of Pharmacy License, BLS required ACLS or PALS required from AHA, and Specialty Board Certification
