Basic Function
The Fellowship Program Director, in accordance with the specific accreditation body, has responsibility and accountability for the operation of the program, including but not limited to:
Curriculum and evaluation
The learning environment within the program
Faculty as teachers, coaches, mentors, advisors and role models
Supervision of residents (i.e. duty hours, work environment, and work intensity)
Program management (i.e. program evaluation and improvement, communications, accreditation as applicable, program resources).
Resident/Fellow well-being.
Oversight of scholarly activities
The Fellowship Program Director reports to the Sponsoring Institution’s Chief Academic Officer/Designated Institutional Official (DIO) for all duties in regard to the operation of the fellowship program. Adherence to AdventHealth and to regulatory bodies that impose requirements on the fellowship program is also the responsibility of the Program Director. Fellowship program tasks may be delegated, but the Program Director is ultimately responsible for the program, and for the timely and accurate completion of all required tasks.
Program Director Qualifications
Be duly licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida and maintain a state and federal authorization to prescribe, dispense, and administer prescription drugs.
Demonstrate ongoing clinical activity.
Be eligible to participate as a provider in the Medicare and Medicaid programs.
Be an active member in good standing of the AdventHealth Medical Staff with all privileges and responsibilities accorded such status.
Hold current certification in relevant specialty by ABMS or AOA.
Have at least three (3) years of relevant, specialty specific, documented educational and/or administrative experience.

Educational Requirement
Program Director must be a licensed and practicing physician in the area of the program, unless the program requirements state otherwise.
FTE Delineation
The Program Director will be allocated a minimum of salary support for administration of the Fellow program based on accrediting body requirements. Adjustments to the FTE will be determined by accrediting body requirements, number of residents, and the complexity of the program. All FTE determinations are approved/denied by the CAO/DIO.
Conference Time
Program Directors will be approved to attend one educational conference per year that is related to the Fellowship program director role. Additional educational conference requests will be addressed on a case by case basis.
Annual Evaluation
Program Director will be evaluated by the CAO/DIO on an annual basis. The performance evaluation will be presented to the Executive Committee by the CAO/DIO.
