The Critical Care Internship Program, or CCIP is an opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills to transition into an ICU setting. At BayCare, we have multiple specialties in the ICU including Cardiovascular, Neurological and Medical/Surgical. The ICU is dedicated to providing compassionate care to critically ill adults, with compassionate and family centered care focus.
We are seeking motivated, mature, self-directed professionals who are interested in growing in a dynamic team and making a difference.

Internship details:
3 weeks of didactic and 8-16 weeks of preceptorship Guided clinical orientation to ensure up-to-date and comprehensive care knowledgeShift: Interns will gain experience on both day and night shift before being assigned a permanent shiftEvery other weekend requirementCommitment: This is an hours-based commitment required for the internship program specifically to the unit of hire beginning at the end of completed preceptorship hoursRequirements:
Current RN (Registered Nurse) LicenseAssociate’s, Bachelor's or Higher in NursingBLS certification from the American Heart AssociationEKG testing transcript Preferred: ACLS certification with the American Heart AssociationPreferred: 1-year experience in an Acute Care settingAt BayCare, we are proud to be one of the largest employers in the Tampa Bay area. Works in a hospital setting and independently cares for a group of ICU patients consistently using the nursing process and clinical standardsDelegates appropriate patient care activities to other members of the health care teamCare for patient needs throughout their recovery in critical careMonitor, record, and update care team on patient vitals and assessments.Identifying sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical conditionResponding to medical emergencies for critical patientsCoordinates and documents appropriate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care after dischargeHigh emotional intelligence to create a positive patient care experience that includes simplifying medical terminology and concepts to the patient Professional accountability and development
