What this job involves – The Critical Facility HVAC Engineer is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of HVAC systems in a critical facility environment, such as a data center. This role involves performing preventive and repair work on facility mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems, as well as studying building automation and fire/life safety systems to ensure their proper functionality. The engineer conducts facility inspections, identifies conditions that may impact operations, and adheres to strict safety procedures to maintain a secure and compliant environment. Additionally, the engineer utilizes CMMS systems to document work performed and ensure accurate records are maintained for all HVAC-related activities.

What is your day to day?

Perform preventive and repair work on facility mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.Study and become proficient in the operation of building automation systems, fire/life safety systems, and other critical facility equipment.Conduct facility inspections, identifying and reporting conditions that could impact client occupancy and operations.Comply with safety procedures, ensuring the overall safety and security of the facility.Utilize CMMS systems to accurately document work performed and maintain up-to-date records.

Desired Experience and Technical Skills

Required:

Universal EPA/CFC recovery certification (or within 90 days of employment).Minimum of four (4) years of technical experience in building engineering.Strong background in packaged HVAC equipment repair and maintenanceKnowledge of overall system design and applications.

Preferred:

Prior experience working in a data center environment.Two years of trades school or documented apprenticeship in electrical systems, refrigeration and HVAC, plumbing, or other craft skills.
