Job Description Summary:

Responsible for performing radiographic diagnostic procedures and for selecting technique factors and positioning. Under the supervision of the diagnostic Radiology Manager, responsible for performing diagnostic procedures on an assigned shift as scheduled. Employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Performs all high quality radiographic procedures on patients of varying ages.

Proficient use of all diagnostic radiographic equipment.

Operation and care of computerized processing system.

Demonstrates proficiency with the Radiology Information System and PACs.

Provides explanation for pre and post instruction to patients.

Assists the radiologist and physicians in performing radiographic procedures or tasks.

Practices and maintains safety regulations established or required and completes incidents   reports.

Monitors operation of equipment and reports malfunctions to supervisor.

Ensures the proper segregation and safe disposal of hazardous pharmaceutical waste.

Contributes to a positive work climate and the overall team effort of the department.

Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

Skills and proficiency in the technical field of Radiology Technology. Such proficiency is acquired through completion of a 2 year accredited AMA approved Radiologic Technology Program (ARRT) and CPR certified.

LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:

Must be registered with ARRT upon employment.

Current CPR certification or CPR certified within 30 days of employment.

EXPERIENCE:

Knowledge of hospital and department policies and procedures, equipment, forms and record keeping as acquired through 3 months of orientation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Must demonstrate computer skills necessary to operate a radiology information system and PACS.

Consistently smiles and is pleasant to patients, visitors, and co-workers. Cheerfully adheres to and promotes the "Quality Plus" and departmental "Service Excellence" expectations standards.
