GENERAL OVERVIEW:
This job functions as a member of an inter-disciplinary team that supports the principles of Patient Blood Management (PBM) for all AHN patients. This includes oversight of the care of Bloodless Medicine patients, management of anemia in pre-surgical and hospitalized patients and optimization of transfusion use in our health system. This position leverages an approach for our health system grounded in evidence based strategies, collaboration, and a true clinical viewpoint allowing expansion of PBM and its principles across AHN. The Incumbent is expected to provide clinical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership support for strategic implementation of a system Anemia Clinic and implement other solutions to transfusion related challenges. Works collaboratively to expand PBM principles across our network and continue implementation of the pillars of PBM. In addition to engaging with clinicians across the health system, the individual will provide clinical expertise for clinical operations on the advancement of our PBM program across AHN, including Quality, Safety, Value, Informatics, and Research. Leverages ongoing collaboration and coordination of clinical resources, analytic, technical, strategic, and business teams to achieve advancement of PBM strategies.

As the Clinical Director for Patient Blood Management you will play a vital role in:
Clinical Leadership & Expertise: Provide clinical guidance and support in the management of bloodless medicine patients, pre-surgical, obstetric, and chronic anemia patients via telemedicine. Anemia Clinic: Conduct telemedicine visits with referred patients for treatment of iron deficiency anemia and have operational oversight of a system-wide Anemia Clinic, optimizing patient’s blood health, ensuring its effectiveness and alignment with PBM principles.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with clinicians, quality, safety, value, informatics, and research teams to integrate PBM principles into clinical operations and improve patient care.Education & Training: Develop and deliver educational materials and training programs for clinicians and staff on PBM principles and best practices.Evidence-Based Practice: Champion evidence-based strategies and contribute to the ongoing research and development of PBM initiatives within AHN.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum
Master's Degree in Nursing3 years of progressive clinical experience in the area of specializationNurse Practitioner certificationNurse Practitioner in PA with prescriptive authorityBlood ManagementHighly motivated with exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to effectively and competently handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously and the flexibility and ability to quickly adapt to changes in work objectives, promotions, and available technology.Independently and in a team, be able to identify the root issues and formulate potential solutions and/or goal-oriented action plans in a professional environment.Accurately use logic and reasoning in identifying alternate solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Potential solutions should be synthesized into presentation, timetable to resolution and appropriate follow up with measurable outcomes.Successfully partners through collaboration and sense of urgency regarding process implementation and improvement/optimization. Collaborates with Quality, Research, Finance, Administration, and others to gather and analyze both clinical and financial data to strengthen the value and organization-wide impact of the program. Must be proficient in Epic, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint Leadership skills required to facilitate and see through change management across all departments and levels of staff.
