About the Opportunity

The Civil Engineering team at Amentum is dedicated to developing and delivering high-quality engineering solutions. We specialise in drafting and executing civil engineering capabilities for a range of complex, highly technical projects, with a focus on the nuclear and defence sectors. Our work often involves evaluating the impact of extreme hazards such as seismic events, blast loads, and environmental conditions. We don’t just follow standard practices; we apply first principles to better understand structural responses and challenges, aiming for innovative, durable, and safe solutions. Key Responsibilities\:

Capability Drafting and Execution – Take ownership of the preparation and delivery of civil engineering design packages, calculations, and associated documentation. Design delivery – service diversions, new services, external works and retaining wall design and detailing on brownfield congested sites. Technical Excellence and Quality Control – Ensure that all project deliverables meet the highest technical standards, including compliance with relevant structural and civil engineering requirements. Client Relationship Management – Develop strong working relationships with internal teams and clients and cross-functional teams to ensure successful project outcomes. Contribution to Business Systems – Uphold and contribute to quality management systems, business operations, and design safety protocols. Health and Safety Culture – Promote and embed a strong health and safety culture in all project designs and executions. *

Technical Excellence and Quality Control – Ensure that all project deliverables meet the highest technical standards, including compliance with relevant structural and civil engineering requirements. Health and Safety Culture – Promote and embed a strong health and safety culture in all project designs and executions. * The steel and concrete design will be done in accordance with Eurocodes with the possible requirement of using historic codes when assessing existing structures (British standards or the old Code of Practice). Other elements that will need designed along with the structural steelwork and foundations include Holding down bolt design and input into connection design, specifically moment connections.   Structural software that will be used for analysis will be\: STAAD Pro, Tekla Tedds, Hilti Profis Engineering or equivalent. Drawings will be produced using a combination of Revit and AutoCAD. Experience in checking drawings is desirable. Scope will also include producing various documents in line with CDM regulations, risk assessments, residual risk registers, method statement. Experience in producing Civil NBS Specification may be required. Proven track record in delivering civil engineering deliverables. An accredited MEng degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline. Proficiency in English (B2 or higher), both written and verbal, with excellent communication skills.
