CSSP Education Specialist
Departmental Overview Compensation / Benefits $18.08-29.53/hr. based on previous work experience. Evening differential $1.10/hr. Night differential $1.25/hr. Weekend differential $1.25/hr. Our Sterile Processing Department is a fast paced, team oriented, quality driven team consisting of 22 members, with experience ranging from 6 months to 37 years. The types of procedures performed in our health system include cardiology, orthopedics, dental, endocrine, ear, nose and throat, general surgery, robotics, gynecology, labor and delivery, neurology urology, and bariatrics. As a team, we process between 2500 and 15,000 instruments per day. Job Summary The Central Supply and Sterile Processing (CSSP) Education Specialist receives direction from the CSSP Manager and Administrative and Clinical Surgical Services Directors. The CSSP Education Specialist proactively anticipates the educational needs of the CSSP team and individuals. Is responsible for planning, developing, organization, implementation, and execution of all education/training programs for CSSP Technicians and other healthcare professionals involved in sterile processing activities. In conjunction with CSSP Leadership, is responsible for planning and organizing in-services/training as identified through needs assessments, quality improvement initiatives, and implementation of new products and technology. The Education Specialist and CSSP Manager will be responsible for ensuring new hire orientation and paperwork is completed in a timely manner. Ensures annual competencies are completed in a timely manner. Serve as CSSP Technician as needed or when not performing Educator duties. Works collaboratively with Healers, Leadership, and Physicians. Assists in effective operations through teamwork, customer service/satisfaction, quality assurance, providing feedback, and assisting in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with regulatory standards and best practices to uphold patient safety an prevent healthcare-associated infections. The work environment includes a combination of office work, classroom instruction, hands-on training. Travel may be required between Norman Regional Health System (NRHS) locations on an as needed basis. Qualifications Education High school education or equivalent GED. Associates degree or beyond in a related field (i.e. Surgical Technology, Supply Chain Management etc) is preferred. Experience Two years minimum of recent Central Supply, Sterile Processing, and/or Surgical Services experience required. (Above requirements can be met by the equivalent combination of education and experience). Licensure/Certification Must have CRCST or CSPDT certification or obtain the credential within 9 months of accepting the position. Preferred candidates will also have achieved the CHL or CSPM credential. Surgical Techs with the the CST credential and appropriate combination of experience may be considered. Other Skills / Knowledge/Abilities Familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel, and Outlook. Has experience working with Instrument Tracking Systems. Experience ordering supplies/instruments preferred.
