CT/MRI Technologist-MRSO
NEW Position in Radiology!! Dual Role to perform all MRI exams as well as Magnetic Resonance Safety Officer (MRSO). Assist the Radiologist or Radiology PA during procedures if need be. A vast knowledge of cross-sectional and vascular anatomy, catheters and abnormal pathology is essential. Magnetic Resonance Safety Officer (MRSO) . Employees who are qualified to work in the MRI modality (advanced certification) have expert specialization at this grade level. The MRSO operates with full responsibility for training, developing, and directing the MR safety program. Duties may include coordination of MR safety committee meetings, evaluation of hospital equipment to ensure MR safe operation, oversight of employee and patient MR screening programs, and acts as an MRI safety resource for hospital staff. Coordinates training of hospital staff and ensures maintenance of educational documentation. Works with hospital RSO and Quality Control Tech to ensure adequate safety procedures and instruction. MRSO certification is highly desirable for this level of complexity. Acts as liaison between clinical areas of hospital and departments of oversight with Radiology Leadership to create an atmosphere of trust for staff and welcoming for patients and families in providing the highest level of care possible in an ever-changing healthcare environment. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S): + Graduate of approved Radiologic Technology School with current ARRT registry and possessing a current New York State license of Radiologic Technology preferred. + 5 or more years' experience as MRI Technologist is required. + Board Certified MRI is required. + Certificate of Magnetic Resonance Safety Officer GUIDING BEHAVIORS: + Communication: Listen to understand, before seeking to be understood. + Collaboration: Deliver outstanding service ensuring that safety comes first. + Compassion: Serve every person with empathy, dignity, and compassion. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: + Should be able to push/pull, lift/move 35 lb., be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard, writing, and filing for extended periods of time, must be able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as data entry, typing and using photo copiers. Mobility requirements may include the ability to be stationary at a workstation for a prolonged period time in addition to being able to squat or be mobile for a reasonable length of time and distance. Communication requirements include the ability to comprehend the spoken English language in addition to being able to communicate and read the English language. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION: + Ability to assess Lab Values that pertain to exam + Operates specialized imaging equipment to produce clinical diagnostic images, as directed by physicians. + Perform MRI studies. + Operate all radiographic imaging equipment associated with Special Procedures, Computed Tomography, including but not limited to monitors, injectors, scanners. + Coordinates with MRI Medical Director, RSO, and Quality Control Tech to ensure safe practices within MRI Department + Leads Radiation Safety meetings. + Work on MRI policies and procedures with the MRI supervisor. + Prepare IV Contrast Power injectors. + Administers Contrast Media as required. + Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, positioning and imaging techniques. + IV certification + Properly and accurately screen patients for MRI (Lab and MRI Safety) + Current Basic Life Support (CPR) + Track, scan, verify studies and complete all required paperwork associated with such. + Monitor PACS for Problem Studies and Call Reports as measure of default when dedicated person unable. + Document on requisition appropriate needed information. + Prep patient for diagnostic imaging exam. + Read doctor's notes as to why exam is being performed. + Take Patient histories. + Explain procedure to patient. + Correct Positioning of patients. + Prepare solutions for patients to drink. Salary Range: $36.07-54.10/hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
