Position Highlights:

The mission of the department of Diagnostic Imaging is to provide quality images and treatments to patients in a compassionate and efficient manner.

Under the broad direction of the Radiologist, CT Supervisor, Diagnostic Imaging Manager and the

Administrator of Diagnostic Imaging, the CT Technologist shall perform procedures on selected anatomy as requested by the clinician on patients based on age appropriateness criteria. The technologist is expected to perform a variety of procedures with the knowledge and ability to apply the proper scan protocols needed to visualize the anatomy in question.

Must be able to work scheduled weekdays, weekends and "ON CALL" hours as scheduled, if applicable

The Ideal Candidate:

Would have one to two years previous CT experience in a hospital setting. Advanced CT Training or experience Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) Basic computer skills are required

Responsibilities:

Must process a complete working knowledge of all CT Scanners in the Radiology Department. Must demonstrate knowledge of all Radiologic principles and imaging techniques as they apply to the daily operation of the CT department. Demonstrates a complete working knowledge of CT equipment in the department. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and has the skills necessary to perform CT procedures based on age related needs. Completes required calibration and understands the Quality Assurance guidelines for CT equipment. Aware of radiation safety policies as they relate to the operation of equipment and protection of the patient Provides for personal and patient safety in accordance with written standards to avoid injury to self or others and uses professional judgment when necessary. Uses protective radiation techniques and safety principles as they relate to monitoring devices, positioning, and protocols during examinations in accordance with hospital and departmental radiation safety policies and procedures. Practices universal precautions, isolation technique, and aseptic Must take the initiative to identify and solve problems. Must consistently look for tasks that need completion and requests coworkers’ assistance whenever necessary. Use discretion and confidentiality in discussions related to patients (HIPPA), personal or staffing issues. Gathers complete documentation of all pertinent information to provide accurate and timely service to patients and ensures completion all forms; i.e.; consent forms, injection documentation, release forms, progress notes and history forms.

Credentials and Qualifications:

High School Diploma / GED ARRT (R) or ARRT (T) - ARRT certification required- CT must obtain Advanced Certification within one eighteen (18) months of hire date. RT Fl License  Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) BLS certification Competency in all aspects of Radiology and/or CT, patient positioning, and
radiation protection. Must be able to start IV's and administer contrast based on department protocols. Basic knowledge of at least one of the following functions: 3D Reconstructions for all CTAs Liver volumes PE studies and other exams as requested., Equipment use, and protocols. Familiarity of the various types of CT biopsies Basic familiarity of invasive procedures Ability to perform basic imaging techniques in the main department, OR setting, and in the IR department. Basic knowledge and ability to assist radiologist with biopsy procedures, providing patient care, and processing images

Preferred:

Associate degree in radiologic technology with certification in CT Discipline One to two years of previous experience in a hospital setting preferred. Advanced CT training or experience preferred. Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS)
