CT Technologist - 1st Shift Job Description The PET/CT Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures utilizing advanced PET and CT scanning equipment to produce detailed images of patients' anatomy and physiological processes. This role requires adherence to safety protocols, excellent patient care, and the ability to work collaboratively with radiologists and other healthcare team members to ensure high-quality imaging results. Responsibilities + Greet and prepare patients for CT/PET imaging procedures, explaining the process and addressing any concerns. + Screen patients for contraindications to imaging, such as allergies or implanted devices. + Accurately document patient information, imaging procedures, and administered substances in electronic medical records (EMR). + Monitor patient condition continually and report/respond to changes in status as appropriate. + Complete all PET/CT exams and procedures, obtaining optimal images for physician review according to policy and protocol. + Administer contrast agents and/or radiopharmaceuticals as required, following established protocols and safety guidelines. + Perform venous punctures using universal precautions while administering contrast media. + Provide medical care as needed, such as administering oxygen, taking vital signs, and giving emergency treatments. + Work closely with radiology staff, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care and workflow. + Collaborate with radiologists to review and interpret imaging results when needed. + Maintain patient confidentiality. + Work with the accrediting body (ACR/IAC) for compliance and documentation. + Ensure compliance with radiation safety standards to protect patients, staff, and self. + Maintain, clean, and report any issues with PET/CT equipment. + Participate in departmental meetings, continuing education, and training sessions. + Perform other position-related duties as assigned. + Adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and comply with all applicable laws and regulations. Qualifications + CT scan proficiency + ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification in Radiography + Advanced certification in CT highly preferred + NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board) or ARRT certification in Nuclear Medicine for PET imaging as required by state + BLS certification + Strong communication and interpersonal skills + Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation + Ability to work collaboratively in a healthcare team + Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) will be taught if needed Work Environment The facility operates Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with no weekend shifts required. The average patient load per day is 2-4. The facility includes a large ASC with multiple cystoscopy suites, open ORs, and a fixed lithotripsy unit. Radiology services offered include bone density, body ultrasound, and CT. The environment also features a physician-led accredited clinical research department, a pathology department with an on-site urological pathologist, and a radiation oncology department offering advanced treatments. Training will be provided for EHR and PACS systems. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $104000.00 - $124800.00/yr.
