CT Technologist - Weekender

Computed tomography (CT) technologists use computerized tomography (CT) scanners to produce cross-section images of patients’ internal organs and tissues for the diagnosis of medical issues. A CT scan technologist must be able to accurately interpret a physician’s scanning instructions, administer contrast materials, prepare and operate the CT scan equipment, and position the patient to capture the appropriate images.

A caregiver in this position works every Saturday and Sunday: 7pm - 7:30am

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

· Perform computerized axial tomography (CT) procedures.· Obtain patient history and clinical data for correlation with exams.Scan all required paperwork into the RIS system.Compile exams for reading by radiologist.Critique exams for film quality and proper identification.Document reasons for any variation in procedures.Assist patients, explain exams and communicate with patients throughout exams.Comply with OSHA and hospital infection control policies.Respond to calls on various shifts.Keep the manager informed of equipment/safety problems.Identify, transport, lift and position patients for exams.Perform duties of a radiologic technologist as required and qualified.Exercise professional judgment in the performance of procedures and patient care.Communicate with the referring physician.Evaluate patients for age-appropriate behavior, motor skills and physiological norms.Assess patients for signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect and report findings to a radiologist or staff physician.Follow safe radiation practices in selection of radiographic techniques and protective shielding to self and patient.Perform receptionist functions, clerical duties and film filing and purging.Control inventory, purchase and stock supplies and maintain cleanliness of rooms.Perform quality assurance duties as assigned. Complete mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements.Obtain certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in computer tomography within 24 months of appointment.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (R).Current radiology license in the State of Ohio.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).Licensed in diagnostic radiology with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in order to be eligible for onsite training in CT scanning.
