JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provides interpreter services to individuals with either limited English proficiency or who are non-English speakers. Services will be provided using electronic and/or face-to-face mediums. Assists staff in listening to, understanding and translating spoken or written statements from one language to another. Provides improved understanding of cross-cultural communication.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilitate effective communication between two parties that do not speak a similar language by converting one spoken or written language to another.Provide interpreter services, and convey the exact message as opposed to summarizing the information in a way that is subjective. Must be able to relay the style and tone of the original language.Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with established Centerstone policies and procedures.May act as the expert in understanding the nuances of the target culture and will help to ensure that communication between different cultures is respectful and effective.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Complete fluency in the working languages.Ability to instantly comprehend and convert one language into another, in a clear and quick manner.Need a good understanding of spoken language.Ability to take notes and recall information needing to be relayed.Excellent concentration and the ability to think quickly are essential.Ensure all clients are met with a tone of respect, compassion, and resolution. Communicates effectively verbally and in written documentation (electronic communication, EMR documentation, CRM documentation) with administration, clinical staff, and business staff.Meet KPIs including ASA, AR, customer satisfaction, documentation audits and silent monitoring audits.Follow HIPAA related rules and regulations and safeguard any and all PHI.Effectively communicates virtually. The trust and respect of the communityKnowledge of values, beliefs, and health practices of cultural groupsAn understanding of traditional and indigenous wellness and healing networks within divers communitiesExperience navigating mental health care delivery and supportive systems within communities.Must also possess knowledge of various computer systems, be team oriented, and able to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and crisis situations.QUALIFICATIONS
Education Level
Bachelor's degree in social work, Social Sciences, Interpretation, anthropology, or related field preferred.
Years of Experience
Two years’ direct interpretation experience, preferably in a mental health setting., is required. Experience in customer service preferred.
Certification/Licensure
Must possess applicable driver's license in good standing, with his/her own vehicle.
