What you’ll be doing
Provide patients with cultural support with singing, drumming, art, daily prayers, storytelling and gatherings Design resources, workshops, special events and conduct activities for patients and staff, incorporating Indigenous knowledge, practices and ceremonies Deliver one-on-one sessions, as requested by the patient, focused on supporting learning about culture, ancestors, spirituality and connection to the land Document patient sessions in Caseworks, our electronic medical record system Ensure cultural practices, programs and service delivery support patients' mental, physical, emotional and spiritual well-being and are designed from an Indigenous perspective consistent with harm reduction philosophies and practices Prepare reports, planning and communications related to programming and specialized events Attend interdisciplinary team meetings and collaborate with the broader Ravensview team regarding individual client care.What we’re looking for:
Degree or Diploma in Social work, Indigenous studies, NNADAP or Health Related Fields Strong understanding of Indigenous culture, community groups and agencies and current issues affecting Indigenous communities Experience managing the delivery of Indigenous programs and services as well as working with Mental Health and Addiction, philosophies and principles using an Indigenous lens Strong knowledge and connection to Indigenous knowledge systems, nations and communities; specific focus on Coast Salish protocols and culture would be an asset Knowledge and understanding of local Indigenous traditions, ceremonies, teachings and practices as well as the social determinants of health in an Indigenous context Strong community, program development and implementation experience Capacity to engage people of diverse communities Strong presentation, facilitation and organizational skills Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skillsAs part of our commitment to the health and safety of our patients, staff and community from COVID-19, and as required by BC Health Authorities, subject to any accommodation required by applicable human rights legislation, Homewood Ravensview requires that all staff have received all required doses of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by Health Canada.
Homewood Health promotes a fair and competitive compensation model. Pay rates are tailored to reflect differences in operating environments and job requirements. Compensation is influenced by many factors including compensation principles or approach for a role or job function, organizational tenure, experience, qualifications or premium skills, external competitiveness, internal comparability, geography and work performance. The salary range for this role is $ 35.50 - $ 38.50.
