Cultural Resources Group Manager

Job Description
Are you looking to join an established cultural resource practice with the opportunity to grow your own team? We are looking for a Senior Archaeologist or Senior Architectural Historian to join the Charleston, Savannah, or Greenville offices and serve as the Cultural Resources Group Manager. (Candidate can be located in any of these cities.) This role will facilitate ongoing project management and cultivate future opportunities for archaeological, historic preservation, and architectural history services. This will also entail collaborating with our established PIs and cultural resource teams across the southeast—as well as our network of cultural resource professionals across the U.S. This is a full-time position with benefits.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.Design, conduct, and report on cultural resource investigations to regulatory agency standards on projects located in the southeast region with an emphasis on South Carolina.Have ability to travel in support of projects under the direction of PIs in other areas if needed.Develop proposals, methodologies, and research designs for all types and phases of archaeological and/or architectural history projects.Supervise and coordinate field and laboratory crews.Coordinate and assist internal and external clients with cultural resources regulatory compliance.Market our cultural resource services to new and existing clients.Manage projects within budget and deadline constraints.Grow and manage a local team of field archaeologists and architectural historians.RequiredMinimum of master’s degree in Anthropology, History, Historic Architecture, or closely related field.A minimum of (5) years of experience as a Cultural Resource Principal Investigator with a professional cultural resource, architectural, or engineering firm or a federal or state agency such as a State Historic Preservation Office.Possession of a U.S. driver’s license, with acceptable violation history.Preferred:Eight (8) years of experience as a Cultural Resource Principal Investigator with a professional cultural resource, architectural, or engineering firm or a federal or state agency such as a State Historic Preservation Office.Professional experience as an SOI-Qualified Archaeological Principal Investigator or SOI-Qualified Architectural Historian in South Carolina. Thorough knowledge of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. Professional experience working with clients from federal and state governments, energy sector, commercial developments, and telecommunications projects.Experience writing bid and proposal packages for large multi-year state and federal government contracts.Experience marketing cultural resource services.Experience managing a team of cultural resource professionals.Business development experience.
