Position Information Posting Number 20113056 Position Title Custodial Supervisor FTE 1.00 Position Type Staff Department Custodial Services Position Summary Information Job Summary/Basic Function About This Role: The Custodial Supervisor performs supervisory work involving the assignment and direct supervision of assigned employees in maintaining the cleanliness of all university facilities. This includes planning, organizing, scheduling, and supervising all custodial activities to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency. The supervisor reports directly to the Custodial Manager in the Facilities Management Department. This position is considered essential, and employees will be required to work as scheduled when University offices are closed due to emergency situations or natural disasters What You’ll Do – Position Responsibilities: + Leads, supervises, trains, and coordinates the activities of the custodial workforce, ensuring flexibility and realigning priorities as needed. + Evaluates custodial and cleaning service needs, monitors building inspections to ensure standards are met, and ensures prompt response to customer service requests. + Acts as a liaison between the department and customers for all custodial services, ensuring effective communication and service delivery. + Ensures required training, qualification, and certification for staff, while motivating employees to maintain a positive customer-service approach. Key Competencies: + Ability to train, coordinate, and manage work activities of assigned staff. + Industrial property and custodial services experience with multiple buildings and dissimilar usage. + Knowledge of custodial equipment, materials, products, techniques, and standards common to custodial agreements. + Effective interpersonal skills with excellent oral and written communication skills. + Understanding of hazards and required safety precautions associated with the use of operation of equipment common to the custodial /housekeeping tasks. Physical Requirements: Tasks will require sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work that will include walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crawling. Some tasks may require being able to lift heavy objects weighing 45 pounds or more and you may have to wear personal protective gear. Job Conditions: The working environment could be around biohazards including raw sewage, chemicals, and/or fumes. Employees may be required to work around electrical and mechanical hazards along with working in adverse weather conditions.
