As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Custodian 1 or Custodian 2 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s).
**NOTE REGARDING THE ADVERTISED PAY: The advertised maximum amount listed is the maximum salary a person can make while in this title/level over their career and not the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.

This position may be filled by Probation, Promotion, Demotion, Lateral Transfer or Detail to Special Duty. Preference may be given to permanent classified employees of Central Louisiana Supports and Services Center.
This position has premium pay for longevity as follows:
$1.000-6 Months
$1.256 Months to 3 years
$1.503 years to 5 years
$1.755 years to 10 years
$2.0010 years to 15 years
$2.2515 Plus years
This position has shift differential based on the shift you work, please see below:
2nd shift evenings 2pm-10:30pm (0051)$0.90
3rd shift Nights 10pm-6:30am (0052)$0.50
All shifts Weekends/Holidays (0059)$0.50

To perform basic manual tasks in order to maintain the cleanliness, sanitary conditions, and appearance of state buildings, facilities, institutions, etc.

Close from a Custodian Supervisor A. Other reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.
SUPERVISON EXERCISED:
None.
LOCATION OF WORK:
All state agencies.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from the Custodian 2 by the absence of experienced-level custodial tasks.
Examples of Work
EXAMPLES BELOW ARE A BRIEF SAMPLE OF COMMON DUTIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS JOB TITLE. NOT ALL POSSIBLE TASKS ARE INCLUDED.
Cleans bathrooms, offices, hallways, and any other assigned areas by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing.
Empties and decontaminates trash containers; may assist in disposing of infectious waste.
Moves, rearranges, and dusts furniture and fixtures.
Learns to mix or blend cleaning solutions to proper concentrations as necessary for various tasks.
Assists in setting up tables, chairs, and other furniture for special meetings, banquets, or other occasions.
Washes blinds, windows, and walls with prescribed solutions.
Operates vacuum for cleaning carpeted areas.
Strips, decontaminates, and makes beds for patients, residents, students, etc.
Reports needs for minor building and/or equipment repairs to a higher-level custodian.
Washes, dries, folds, and issues clothing, linens, etc. as assigned.
May perform basic grounds work by picking up trash, watering plants, etc.
