**1st Shift Custodian** **Job Description:** Under general supervision: + Keep commercial and institutional buildings in clean and orderly condition. + Maintains an adequate inventory of hygiene/cleaning supplies to meet routine requirements. + Operate floor cleaning and other cleaning equipment. + Remove trash, sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, clean, wash, wax and buff offices, hallways, storage/warehouse areas, restrooms, windows, kitchen areas and associated spaces. + Sweep, mop, clean and/or scrub walls, passenger elevators, glass, fixtures and stairs. + Dust woodwork and furniture. + Maintain and re-supply restrooms and perform routine restroom checks. + Remove and empty trash and garbage containers and deliver collected refuse to the loading dock. + Shampoo carpets, strip, seal, finish, and polish floors. + Clean and sweep shop areas. + Clean snow and debris from building entrances. + Comprehend written and oral instructions. + Monitor building for maintenance/safety/security issues and report any violations to immediate Supervisor or Management. + Adhere to safety practices and procedures. + Perform other job-related duties as required. **Job Type:** This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 120 Day(s). Foot in the door with a reputable government contractor. Ample room for growth and advancement. **Work Site:** This is a fully on-site position in Springfield, Virginia.
