Purpose
To meet the custodial needs in the restrooms, offices and plant cafeterias maintaining a clean, and safe environment for employees and guests.
II.
Duties
Performs the following tasks as directed in Plant Cafeterias:
Daily: Sweeps, mops, dusts, cleans tabletops, fills and cleans napkin holders, empties trash containers and replaces trash liners, cleans windows, wipes down vending machines and cleans microwaves inside and out, vacuums, cleans foot rugs, cleans drinking fountains, cleans cafeteria coolers.
As Needed: Removes heel marks, spot buffs floor, cleans outside windows in cafeterias, replaces foot rugs, cleans air vents and wipes down walls.
Performs the following tasks as directed in Office Areas:
Daily: Sweeps, vacuums, mops, dusts, empties trash containers.
As Needed: Removes heel marks, spot buffs floor, shampoos carpet, replaces trash liners, wipes off all ceiling pipes, cleans air conditioners and air vents, cleans windows and wipes down walls.
Performs specific jobs on an as needed basis in the front office area. Follows all established guidelines for working in offices including not attempting to read material left on a desk or in a trash can while cleaning, not handling or attempting to straighten papers, books or any materials that are not directly related to the Custodian position, and not using telephones in private offices at any time. Performs the following tasks as directed in the restrooms:
Daily: Cleans and disinfects bowls, urinals and sinks, cleans and polishes bright work, cleans mirrors, mops floor with disinfectant, empties trash containers and replaces trash liners, fills tissue, towel and soap dispensers.
As Needed: Wipes down walls, replaces bowl bars, replenishes air freshener units, fills sanitary napkin machines in women’s restrooms, cleans air vents, removes markings from stall wall dividers.
Performs cleaning tasks as directed in the Training Center and Fitness Center. Performs general GMA and safe/AIB cleaning. Cleans and flushes eye stations, cleans water fountains, slop sinks and wipes down slop sink wall areas. Cleans up spills, sweeps snow from step and door areas and distributes ice-melt at entrances. Wipes off tops and sides of lockers. Maintains security of assigned keys. Follows all safety procedures including wearing proper PPE when cleaning blood spills, mopping floors, using chemical and cleaners. Maintains adequate supply of mixed cleaners as needed. Promptly reports any malfunction or machine breakdown, damaged or worn out equipment to Management. Stocks hair nets in all boxes for employees and visitors. Maintains cleaning cart with adequate supplies and reorders custodial supplies. This may involve completion of purchase order forms, contact with outside vendors and follow up with Management to resolve any issues. Audits all areas for cleanliness and reports any area that requires additional attention to Management. Maintains a clean safe work area. Maintains self and work area to comply with Good Manufacturing Practices and other prerequisite food safety programs Creates a floor cleaning schedule, as assigned, including stripping, waxing, and maintenance to be submitted to Management for approval prior to implementation. Dumps all trash bags and broken down cardboard boxes from the hallway on the north side of the mailroom. Assists in the training of new or inexperienced personnel. All other duties as assigned by Management.
