Custodian

As a Custodian, you will maintain a clean and safe environment by using teamwork to reach a common goal. You will insure that the buildings are kept clean and in orderly condition by performing heavy cleaning tasks, such as: cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish. You will be responsible for notification to the appropriate manager when repairs are needed. You will report to the Coordinator of Custodial Services and will work onsite.

Responsibilities:

Perform all tasks in keeping all assigned areas clean, by following established practices. Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established procedures. Clean and sanitize all urinals, toilets, sinks, piping, walls, stalls, vents, empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; empty and clean refill restroom dispensers, sweeping and mopping with sanitizer. Help with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, and events. Perform necessary floor care practices. Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floor, vacuum and shampoo carpets as assigned. Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools; buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washers, high speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, and furniture. Lock and unlock assigned buildings; secure building when facilities are not in use. Help with inventory control and security. Pay special attention to areas and equipment necessary to health and well-being of the children and staff and advise to immediate supervisor of any health and safety concerns. Perform the job responsibilities of other custodial personnel in their absence to be sure all health and safety requirements are met.

Requirements and Education:

High school diploma or GED preferred. At least one year of experience required.
