Custom Assembler III

Eaton’s CPDI OPS Operations division is currently seeking a Custom Assembler III. At our Raleigh, NC location they engineer, manufacturer, and ship prodcuts related to electrical power distribution to 6 different segments. Some of those include Utilties, Institutions, Aerospace, and Residential. The Custom Assembler III role offers a 40-hour paid work week with hours being 6:00am-2:30pm Monday-Friday. WIth full time employment you are offered Benefits (Medical, Dental, & Vision), 401K percent match plan, and vacation.​ The Custom Assembler II will build custom assemblies, units and gear involving complex and repetitive wiring for Uniteruptilble Power Systems (UPS).

The hourly rate for this position is $21.42 per hour.

What you’ll do:

The Custom Assembler III will plan, coordinate and assemble Custom UPO and ancillary equipment involving electrical/mechanical components, complex wiring and custom content.   
 
In this function:

•    You will perform assembly of UPS products and sub-assemblies.
•    You will assemble products per Eaton’s Workmanship Standards (not defined in Work Instructions).
•    You will plan, setup work stations/assembly areas for assigned assemblies.
•    You will review and order required materials from warehouses using SAP.  
•    You will work to Enovia/CAD Drawings, blueprints, engineering drawings, bills of materials, and wire charts of complex nature to establish procedures and incorporate engineering change notices into assembly as required.  
•    You will build wire harnesses and Power Cables using wire cutting, stripping, lugging.  
•    You will preform metal modifications (drilling, hole punching, cutting, etc).
•    You will determine assembly methods based upon deadlines, part availability, and engineering specifications and evaluate assembly problems to recommend and implement corrective actions.
•    You will be responsible for visual inspections of material before and after assembly. 
•    You will use various fixtures, gauges, hand tools and power tools to assemble, adjust, or repair product. 
•    You will inspect completed assemblies to ensure compliance with Raleigh Plant Quality standards and making necessary adjustments when required in order to meet quality goals. 
•    You will adhere environmental, health, safety rules and regulations and provide process and safety improvement ideas.
•    You will ensure machines and tools are properly calibrated and perform housekeeping duties as necessary using the principles of 5S+. 

Qualifications:

Required (Basic): 
•    A minimum of three years of experience in manufacturing or electrical field.
•    For internal candidates: must be in custom assembler role II for a minimum of 6 months
•    Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, SOPs and engineering drawings.
•    Crimping and Soldering Certifications 
•    Forklift and/or Electric Pallet Jack Certification
•    High School Diploma or GED required from an accredited educational institution 
•    Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship 
•    Relocation assistance is not available for this position.  Only candidates in the immediate geographical area (50 mile radius) will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.  
 

Preferred:  
•    Three or more years of experience in electro-mechanical assembly
•    Previous experience with standard operating procedures  
•    Experience with point-to-point wiring test using meters.

Skills:

•    Ability to demonstrate working knowledge of the mechanical, electrical, and safety procedures of a manufacturing facility. 
•    Ability to demonstrate technical aptitude (ability to read wiring diagrams and other technical drawings)
•    Ability to operate Computer Systems – Enovia/Autovue, SAP, Microsoft Office applications
•    Soldering, crimping, harness, metal modification experience
•    Ability to effectively communicate with design engineering, project managers and leadership concerning schedules, status, design issues and solutions.
•    Ability to read and interpret standard operating procedures. 
•    Ability to work daily and/or weekend overtime, willingness to flex to different areas or local plants as needed 
•    Ability to lift 50 lbs.  
•    Ability to distinguish colored wiring 
•    Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Repetitive lifting, bending, and squatting is inherent to this position.
