Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Customer Quality Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality engineering, with specific experience in plastic injection molding, preferably from an automotive environment. This role involves working closely with internal teams and customers to ensure high-quality standards and continuous improvement in our products and processes.
ResponsibilitiesPrioritize actions for Six Sigma quality projects using methodologies including Voice of Customer (VOC), Measurement Systems Assessment (MSA), Failure Mode Analysis (FMEA), Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Cause and Effect (C&E), and Control Parameter Management (CPM).Perform internal audits to ensure compliance with ISO 9000 and ISO/TS standards.Support Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Product Part Approval Process (PPAP) on new product launches and current product changes by identifying potential failures due to supplier issues.Perform quality reviews of catalyst design-FMEA for compliance with stated customer requirements, specifications, and quality records.Analyze, compile, review, and regularly report customer quality metrics.Manage self-assessment audits as specific CSR.Ensure appropriate and timely communications of CIP (Continuous Improvement Process) programs to the customer to support effective and appropriate change management, in accordance with agreed-upon customer requirements.Ensure information flow related to customer returns to appropriately address design (hardware and software), manufacturing, packaging, and logistics causes.Complete other projects and activities as assigned by Customer Quality Senior.Spend 50% of the time on the floor engaging directly with leaders and supervisors and 50% at a desk.Bi-weekly trips to customers within driving distance in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, etc.Essential SkillsStrong quality engineering experience.Experience with plastic injection molding, preferably from an automotive environment.Root cause analysis and quality documentation experience.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Experience with FMEA, root cause analysis, and quality documentation.ASQ certification, Lean Six Sigma knowledge.Additional Skills & Qualifications3-5 years of experience as a Quality Engineer.At least 2 years of experience with plastic injection molding.Associates degree in Engineering, although a Bachelor's degree is preferred.Strong problem-solving mindset.Preferred but not required: ASQ, CQE, ACE, CQM, ASQC, DFSS, ISO, RAC, PMP, LEAN certifications.Work Environment
Working within a Quality team of 16-20 people. The role will be the point of contact for communicating with customers regarding quality issues. The company offers a local feel with global support, great stability, and many employees with long tenure.
