Reads commercial and residential water meters. _ *Key Accountabilities*_ * Turns on and shuts water at meter pit on an occasional basis/daily: Drives vehicle with automatic transmission to location, requiring constant gripping of the wheel, neck rotation, and slight flexion. Requires kneeling on the ground, using meter key to open lid and turn angle valve. Grasps meter key wrist deviation and elbow flexion/extension with shoulder flexion and internal/external rotation. Uses meter key (5#) and hand tools. (%) * Locates water lines on an occasional basis/daily: Drives vehicle with automatic transmission to location of the water lines, requiring constant gripping of the wheel, neck rotation, and slight flexion. Seated task with vibration noted. Uses map to locate the area and then pulls card from file in the vehicle. Finds meter tile and removes meter lid with meter hook, hooks locating cables to the service(may require shoveling to remove dirt or debris form on top of meter tile, may require hammer or small pry bar to loosen stuck lid, depending on size, meter lids range in weight from 5# - 65#. Finds and marks locations of the water lines. Using probing rod, pushes rod down into ground in an effort to locate the main by hitting it with rod. Picks up locating device (5#) which is a magnetic locator to find the pipes, requiring neck flexion, sweeping motion with arm and gripping of tool. Puts flag (negligible weight) in location or spray paints mark, requiring neck flexion, lift/carry less than 1#. Uses locating device, flag, card file, map, probing rod, shovel, pry bar, and spray paint (%) * Maintains hydrants/valves on a frequent basis: Flushes hydrants: uses a wrench to open/shut the hydrant, requiring grasping of the tool, wrist deviation and forearm rotation. May need to use a cheater pipe. Lubricates the threads, requiring trunk flexion and forward reaching. Uses key (30#) to open/close the valve. Holds onto handle at waist height and turns valve, requiring heavy grasp, wrist deviation and elbow flexion/extension with shoulder flexion and internal/external rotation. Uses pry bar to open lid to the valve. Kneels on the asphalt, requiring heavy grasping of pry bar, wrist deviation and elbow flexion and extension, trunk and neck flexion. Uses hand tools, valve key (25#), and pry bar. (%) * Replaces meter boxes on a frequent basis: Performs hand digging, as necessary, to remove old meter tile, requiring trunk and neck flexion, side bending, forward reaching crouching and squatting, and kneeling. May lay on stomach or sides on the ground. Uses shovel, pry bar, and meter key. Drives truck to location on an occasional basis/daily: Steps up into van. Uses automatic transmission, requiring gripping of steering wheel, hand and foot control operation, and neck rotation. (%) * Installs meters on an occasional basis/daily: Uses meter key to open lid and bend down to install meter in pit, requiring grasping of the tool, wrist deviation and forearm rotation. Uses meter key (5#)and adjustable office chair, uses keyboard and mouse(fine motor coordination hand tools. Performs computer data entry: Seated at desk with task). Works approximately 10 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes in the afternoon. Requires slight neck flexion and rotation. Carries gun (3#) and docks it into the computer. Uses laptop in van/truck to record each stop requiring trunk rotation, neck flexion and input via computer keyboard for short periods. May run reports in the morning at the office. Uses laptop and desktop computer, adjustable chair, and gun. Cleans van on an as needed basis: Removes all tools from the back of the van. Lifts up to 30# from waist height and carrying a supplies.
