Overview Directly responsible for scheduling Cardiology clinic patients for treatment, processing patients' demographic, insurance, and financial information, and coordinating with nursing staff and physicians to provide efficient services to PCN clinic patients. Responsibilities Answers incoming phone calls by the third ring. Manages incoming phone calls to the clinic in a courteous manner. Directs calls to the appropriate party. Takes messages for nurses and forwards messages in a timely manner. Promptly follows up on calls placed on hold or obtains another person as a back up to help eliminate long wait times. Schedules new patient appointments Obtains accurate and complete patient information at the time of visit and makes any necessary changes. Obtains insurance card from patient at time of visit. Scans copy of insurance card into computer and attaches to patient account. Obtains signatures on consent forms, billing forms, check-in sheet, etc. Reviews all patient account information and files for accuracy and completeness before patient is called back to the exam room for treatment. Attaches photo to account information. Collects co-pays, deductibles, coinsurance, and patient due balances at check in. Manages Patient flow and directs visitors to the appropriate area. Assists with insurance verifications as necessary by utilizing AHIN, insurance websites, or calling insurance companies for policy information. Follows up on “no-shows”. Schedules return appointments and gives reminder cards to patients at the time of check out. Qualifications High School Graduate, Customer Oriented, Excellent verbal and written communication skills, Basic computer skills, Ability to multitask, Ability to handle a busy and stressful environment.
