We are looking for a candidate that is self-motivated, customer service focused, detail oriented, and uses effective problem-solving techniques to provide general information and customer assistance. This role supports Houston Water with a primary focus in Quality Management (QM) of the Restoration section. Essential job duties and responsibilities include: + Maintaining a positive and proactive approach to the guidelines and department goals. + Collecting data and requesting field investigations. + Creating, updating, and costing service requests and work orders accurately and in a timely manner. + Responding to inquiries by telephone or email. + Demonstrating excellent customer service skills and using effective questioning techniques to verify/confirm customers' concerns. + Maintaining and updating various records and reports. + Provide guidance and training to other customer service representatives. + Performing other administrative and customer service-related duties as requested. + Working overtime as needed due to operational needs. WORKING CONDITIONS The position is physically comfortable most of the time with occasional periods of stooping, and/or light lifting of materials of up to 10 pounds. This is a Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier III Level. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Requires a high school diploma or a GED certificate. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Two years of administrative or customer service-related experience are required. Associate degree may be substituted for up to two years of experience. LICENSE REQUIREMENTS None PREFERENCES + Call center / dispatch experience + Intermediate to advance working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Sharepoint, Outlook) + Knowledge of various asset management systems such as Infor, 311/CRIS, GeoLinks) + Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills. **Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6**.
