Customization Utility Operator

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Check for errors in labeling, count, lot control and palletization. Failure to catch these errors impact the Customer, Shipping, and Inventory.

·         Report and correct all errors to coordinators via reports and e-mail. Communicate shortages to affected departments.

·         Print packing slip for MTO and book pallets in JDE system with correct information. Incorrect product delays orders to customers and creates customers’ claims.

·         Perform daily checklist for safety and inform line leaders of any violations.

·         Support the 5S Lean Program

·         Flexible to cross-train and support all areas within the warehouse

·         Must ensure that the product is labeled properly and uniformly through the entire run. Mistakes are amplified by the quantity being produced. Potentially mistakes could reach multiple customers causing unnecessary complaints, returns, shipping costs, and relabeling costs.

·         Counts the product before and after each job to avoid over runs, checks for the proper item code, checks upc's, price tickets, and labels before each job for accuracy.  Saves production time if job is done correctly the first time.

·         Constantly analyzing the positioning of staff to optimize production rates. All work orders and customer orders have run rates that have been budgeted for, extra time translates in costing the department money

·         Responsible for the use of proper safety procedures and people on their line. Cut gloves, protective eye wear, steel toe shoes, proper lifting techniques and housekeeping, etc.

·         Support the 5S Lean Program.

·         Flexible to cross-train and support all areas within the warehouse.

 EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

Education

·         High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience

·         Warehousing experience preferred

·         Experience with Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) a plus

·         Problem solving skills to include recognition of problems and solutions

Functional Competencies 

Required to stay overtime when necessary to complete work.

SCOPE

Auditors and Bookers count all pallets after the lines are finished, verifying item codes, pallet counts, lots, producing packing slips for Made to Order and License plate or LPs for work orders. The auditor/booker also keeps track of customization damages and cancelled orders ensuring inventory is adjusted in the system.

Control and lead a crew of labeler assemblers in the execution of the Customization of products in the Customization Department. Responsible for training of individual’s crew. Meet or exceed production standards while maintaining quality standards. Run equipment used in the packaging or customizing of products to customer requirements. Record statistical data on all jobs performed daily.
