We are currently looking for a new Customs Manager!
What part will you play?
As a Customs Manager within the Global Business Services (GBS) organization, you will oversee the customs operations and processes while managing a team of professionals. You will ensure compliance with all customs regulations and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Your role will also involve identifying opportunities to offshore customs-related functions and transitioning them to the GBS, ensuring seamless integration and business continuity.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Management:
⦁ Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing customs team, ensuring alignment with business objectives and fostering a collaborative work environment.⦁ Oversee day-to-day customs operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely clearance of shipments.⦁ Monitor team performance and implement improvements to enhance productivity and service levels.
Customer Relationship Management:
⦁ Maintain and nurture strong relationships with internal business units and external customers to ensure customs operations align with their needs.⦁ Act as the primary point of contact for customs-related queries and escalations, ensuring customer satisfaction.⦁ Collaborate with various stakeholders to understand their needs and provide effective customs solutions.
Stakeholder Engagement:
⦁ Collaborate with cross-functional teams (finance, logistics, legal, etc.) to ensure alignment and integration of customs activities into broader business processes.⦁ Regularly engage with senior leadership to report on customs operations, performance, and strategic initiatives.
Offshoring Strategy Development:
⦁ Identify customs processes and functions that are suitable for boundling/nearshoring/offshoring.⦁ Develop and execute a strategy to transition these customs operations to GBS while maintaining operational efficiency.⦁ Lead the setup and optimization of customs processes, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations.
Process Optimization & Compliance:
⦁ Ensure all customs activities are compliant with local and international customs regulations.⦁ Continuously assess customs procedures and identify areas for process improvement and cost reduction.⦁ Implement best practices and automation to streamline customs processes and improve efficiency.
What you should have:
⦁ Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.⦁ Proven experience in customs operations, preferably in a multinational environment.⦁ In-depth knowledge of customs regulations and procedures.⦁ Excellent customer relationship management skills, with a focus on delivering high levels of customer satisfaction.⦁ Excellent communication and presentation skills⦁ Ability to plan and conduct in-depth reviews of transactional data using data and analytics⦁ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills & strong attention to detail and accuracy⦁ Strong English language communication skills, both written and verbal, German as an advantage⦁ Ability to travel
