POSITION PURPOSE

Responsible for providing leadership, guidance, direction and management for the Cutting Department during the various shift operations.  Ensures production safety, quality and customer satisfaction goals are met. Initiates and supports all processes and ensures compliance with Six Sigma efforts.  Minimal supervision required.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS
•    Responsible for managing the sheet fed line, rotary die cutting, rotary die sharpening areas and ensures paperboard is sheeted, printed and cut to specifications, rotary dies perform to expectations.   

•    Plans, directs and manages operations to achieve operating goals and objectives consistent with plant and division objectives.  

•    Identifies cost reduction and continuous improvement opportunities in support of Six Sigma efforts.

•    Identifies capital improvement projects for the department and provides project management support.

•    Manages department efforts across shifts and with other departments and functions.

•    Establishes department goals in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, and employee development.

•    Ensures production operations are conducted in a safe and clean working environment and complies with federal, state and local laws and regulations.

•    Identifies activities and opportunities that improve the manufacturing processes and controls costs throughout the department.

•    Directly involved in responsibilities / actions related to Prerequisite and Food Safety Programs.

•    In the absence of Cutting Manager, daily responsibilities will be transferred to Operations Manager or a Supervisor.
•    Must complete additional duties as assigned. 

•    Follow all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods.

•    Report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures.

•    Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.

•    Reporting of any customer complaints to persons responsible to enter into GPI’s Customer Complaint system for root cause analysis and appropriate corrective action taken.

•    Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).

•    Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.

•    Responsible for the verification of SQF controls and meeting the standards of the SQF requirements.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or related field with 5-8 years’ experience in converting operations and working with dies or equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Ability to manage projects, resources and people and set and meet target disciplines. Ability to develop improvements, achieve budget/cost constraints. Supervisory experience preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook and internet.
