CXR Senior Process and Integration Engineer

Stanford University and UC Berkeley co-lead the Pacific Northwest AI Hardware Hub (“NW-AI Hub”), one of eight hubs in the CHIPS Act-funded, Microelectronics Commons. The administrative center of the NW-AI Hub is located on the Stanford campus. We seek an experienced technologist to support the operations of a new CXR business unit, providing CMOS+X prototyping and development services for the heterogeneous integration of commercial foundry devices (CMOS) with emerging and advanced technologies (X), by establishing design and process service routes (R). The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in device fabrication, with strong knowledge of design, packaging, and test. Industry experience is a strong plus. The role is to enable world-class researchers to turn their ideas into real devices using commercially viable process pathways. In this role, you will:

Provide leadership and scientific expertise in the planning and implementation of CXR technical projects and activities. Develop advanced technological ideas and guide their development into process pathway for CXR users. Carry out complex or unique assignments important to the advancement of CXR. Provide expert consultation and collaboration regarding technical requirements, capabilities, and advancement opportunities; make substantive contributions in diverse technical areas. Provide technical direction to other research staff, engineering associates, technicians, and/or students; facilitate workshops and demonstrations on research methods; educate and train users on research methodology and effective tools and techniques. Supervise staff and resources to meet program objectives.

Education & Experience (Required):

Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (Required):

Expert knowledge of the principles of engineering and related natural sciences. Demonstrated project leadership experience. Demonstrated experience leading and/or managing technical professionals.

Education & Experience (Desired):

M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Semiconductor Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering or other field relating to device fabrications. Experience in some device fabrication areas – device design, processing technologies, process integration and device fabrication, assembly and test. Experience in fabrication (clean room) environment; wafer handling and contamination protocols desirable.

Working Conditions:

May be exposed to high voltage electricity, radiation or electromagnetic fields, lasers, noise > 80dB TWA, Allergens/Biohazards/Chemicals /Asbestos, confined spaces, working at heights ≥10 feet, temperature extremes, heavy metals, unusual work hours or routine overtime and/or inclement weather. May require travel. This is an on-site role.

Physical Requirements:

Frequently grasp lightly/fine manipulation, perform desk-based computer tasks, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds. Occasionally stand/walk, sit, twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp forcefully. Rarely kneel/crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds, or other), reach/work above shoulders, use a telephone, writing by hand, sort/file paperwork or parts, operate foot and/or hand controls, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh >40 pounds.

Pay Range:

The expected pay range for this position is $156,560 to $180,039 per annum.
