About the role:
As the Cyber Junior Underwriter – Iberia & Latin America, you will be reporting directly to the Cyber Manager in charge of Western Europe & Latin America regions. You will also be working very closely with and will benefit from the mentorship of our Cyber Underwriters and will be part of TMHCC International Cyber team. Based in our Barcelona office, you will play a strategic role in the management of our Cyber portfolio in your territories, assisting Cyber Underwriters in strategic and technical matters as they relate to formulating, executing and monitoring underwriting strategies for Cyber risks insurance.
The job requires a good understanding of Cyber matters (Threat, Vulnerabilities and Consequences), insurance and Latam and European markets evolution. We expect the candidate to have basis, and trainings will be provided in the first months.
The main responsibility of the Cyber Junior Underwriter – Iberia & Latin America is to assist/manage the stand-alone Cyber book of business written in those countries. You will play a key role in the alignment of the Cyber risk underwriting strategies for our Underwriting teams, making sure that the Cyber book is consistent and profitable.
Key Responsibilities:
Underwriting Strategy
The Cyber Junior Underwriter – Iberia & Latin America:
will make sure that our approach in those territories is consistent with our global strategy; in conjunction with the Financial Lines teams and the Cyber Team, will formulate, implement and monitor local Cyber risks strategies; will help supervising technical, legal and commercial aspects regarding the development of our Cyber book in those territories; will support information sharing with regards Cyber insurance and continuously attend training to keep up to date with new trends; will make sure the UW philosophy for Cyber insurance is clearly communicated internally and externally; as a member of the underwriting team, the Cyber Junior Underwriter – Iberia & Latin America will actively participate in the development of the book of business by building and using her/his brokers’ relationships, local market expertise and language skills; will build productive relationships with business partners both internally and externally in all related territories.
Underwriting Authority
The Cyber Junior Underwriter – Iberia & Latin America will be part of the Cyber Risks Committee and may act as a referral authority for certain risk segments. He/she will be involved in underwriting decisions depending on the class of business/territory/limit, of liability/risk, and of exposure/claims experience (risk segments).
Portfolio Management
The Cyber Junior Underwriter – Iberia & Latin America will assist the Cyber Underwriters in managing the overall Cyber portfolio and in providing management information to the Management Team for this line of business ( perform an annual regional book analysis; develop and enhance underwriting and risk management philosophies, underwriting tools and underwriting procedures according to the needs of the company. )More specifically the Cyber Junior Underwriter – Iberia & Latin America
will:
report on a monthly basis: Cyber trends, wins and losses; report on an annual basis on the progress made in the implementation of the Cyber local strategies in the main markets covered by the underwriting teams in Barcelona; contribute to the annual business plans by ensuring that the company’s Cyber appetite is adequately integrated in the local business plans;
Product/Project Management
The Cyber Junior Underwriter – Iberia & Latin America will be involved in specific research or product development projects that can contribute to the development and/or enhancement of new and/or existing products and market entries.
Relationship Management
As part of relationship management of the company the Cyber Junior Underwriter – Iberia & Latin America will:
maintain and develop relationships with key brokers, in conjunction with respective Financial Lines Managers; encourage underwriting discussion and stimulate communication between our different teams; provide leadership to teams when in charge of a specific project; develop a sound understanding of all products, services and solutions offered within TMHCC´s Financial Lines division; promote the company by participating in specialized forums and conferences.
Skills And Competencies Required:
Fluent in Spanish and English. (Cyber) Insurance with a fast ability to learn and understand technological processes surrounding internet security and data protection. The candidate will have the technical know-how to build cyber capabilities and develop a strong network on the insurance markets. The candidate will be recognized for having curious and motivated spirit to learn and share with underwriters and product experts. The ability to adapt to a continuously changing risk and to think clearly and quantitatively is critical to this role. (MSc or MBA) Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Law or IT. Experience working in ever-changing environment, handle multiple tasks, and work on deadlinesStrong communication and negotiation skills.
Skills And Competencies Preferred:
Ideally some insurance experience, preferably with an emphasis in underwriting Financial Lines and Cyber. We stay open to graduates.
Other requirements :
Willingness to frequently travel.
