Job Description
A customized hardware/software engineering company is seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Engineer. The ideal candidate will define cybersecurity development and test efforts, implement security controls for networking devices, databases, operating systems, and hardware/software components. The Security Engineer will conduct cybersecurity audits and support the development, understanding, and integration of cybersecurity development activities, requirements, design & architecture artifacts, plans, and policies. The selected candidate will be subject to government security investigations and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
ResponsibilitiesDefine cybersecurity development and test effortsImplement security controls for networking devices, databases, operating systems, and hardware/software componentsConduct cybersecurity auditsSupport the development, understanding, and integration of cybersecurity activities, requirements, design & architecture artifacts, plans, and policiesAuthor and review cybersecurity documents, program protection security plans, and program-specific security plansCreate implementations for cybersecurity plansPerform penetration testing and scansProvide mentorship and guidance to software and hardware engineersParticipate in software and hardware architecture design for securityInterface with systems, mechanical, electrical, and software engineersWork with liability and systems factor teamsCreate deliverable documents for customersApproach and address customer questions as neededEssential SkillsU.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and retain a DoD Secret security clearanceBS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Information Management, or related technical fieldMinimum of 7+ years of technical experienceExperience with security features and/or vulnerability analysis of various operating systems as defined by Intelligence agencies, NIST, and USCYBERCOMExperience with cybersecurity vulnerability testing and related network/system test tools (e.g., NMap, Nessus, SCAP)Experience with information security tools including anti-virus, Vulnerability Assessment, host-based/endpoint security solutions, MFA, SIEM, and centralized auditing toolsIT and/or network/system security admin experience, including operating system security configuration and account management for UNIX, Windows, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and CISCO systemsAbility to collaborate in a team environment, prioritize tasks, and develop solutions for complex problemsAdditional Skills & QualificationsDoDI 8570.01-M IAT Level-II Compliant Certification (e.g., Security+ or CISSP or equivalent)Familiarity with NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST 800-171, and NIST 800-53Familiarity with Program Protection Plan (PPP) required by DoDI 5000.02 and DoDI 5200.39Multi-level security and utilization of Cross Domain SolutionsExperience working on U.S. Government contract proposals as a Cybersecurity subject matter expertFamiliarity with JAMA requirements and AlienVault Audit management toolsMS in Information Systems Technology or related technical fieldCurrent Secret or Top Secret Security ClearanceWork Environment
The role involves working an 8-hour shift from Monday to Friday. The company primarily supports the Air Force and Navy, with a team of 121 employees at the Richardson facility. The team structure includes collaboration with systems, mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, as well as providing mentorship and guidance to ensure secure system design and implementation. This role will also involve customer-facing responsibilities and creating deliverable documents for customers.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $85.00/hr.
