Cybersecurity Software Development Engineer II

GEICO’s Cybersecurity organization has an exciting opportunity for a Cybersecurity Software Development Engineer II. This individual will play a key role within GEICO’s Cybersecurity Software Engineering team, with a focus on building, software development.

Position Description:

As a Cybersecurity Software Engineer II, you will work with current engineers to innovate and build new systems, while also looking to improve, and enhance existing systems. This role will also assist with identifying new opportunities to solve and prevent critical problems. As an Engineer II, you are expected to assist and contribute toward the team Roadmap and Strategy that will increase the velocity of delivering products and unlock new engineering capabilities. The ideal candidate is a passionate developer with an interest in Cybersecurity. Experience with Open-Source Solutions is a plus.

Qualifications:

Collaborate with managers, team members, and other engineering teams to solve our toughest security and automation problems.

Develop and execute technical software development strategy for the Security Engineering domain.

Accountable for the quality, usability & performance of the solutions

Hands-on experience in complex system design and data pipeline and architectures, scale, performance, and tuning.

Experience with at least two programming languages, such as Java, Go, Python, C++, etc.

Experience with at least one scripting language, such as Bash, PowerShell, Python.

Understand open-source security products similar to Security Onion, Snort, Osquery, IDS/IPS, OpenVAS, Defect Dojo, Zabbix, Grafana, CloudSploit, Suricata etc.

Be a role model and mentor, helping to coach and strengthen the technical expertise and know-how of our engineering and product community.

Experience in CI/CD pipeline and related open-source tools like GIT/Jenkin/CircleCI/SonarQube knowledge in Terraform/Ansible will be big plus.

Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.

Ability to work effectively, independent of assistance or supervision.

Innovative, creative, and responsive, with a strong sense of urgency.

Willing to share knowledge and assist others in understanding technical and business topics.

Stay up to date on the latest Cybersecurity trends, technologies, and best practices.

Experience:

3+ years of professional software development experience

2+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service

2+ years of experience in security engineering and technology

1+ years of experience with architecture and design

1+ years of experience in open-source frameworks

Education:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or equivalent education or work experience


 

Annual Salary

$76,000.00 - $185,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
