LabCorp and the Integrated Genetics Division is seeking a Cytogenetics Team Lead to join their Prenatal team in RTP, NC!
Assays performed in the prenatal Cytogenetics Department utilize various scientific techniques, including prenatal culturing, digesting cells with enzymes, Identifying CVS vs Decidua, dissecting villi/fetal/umbilical/POC, harvesting cells with fixative, chromosome analysis with ASI system and microscope.
The schedule for this position will be: 1st shift, Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm.

Job Responsibilities:
Performs laboratory tests and analyses according to established procedures in designated technical department
Assists in training and orientation of trainees as required
Performs laboratory tasks to diagnose chromosomal abnormalities from patient specimens
Culture and harvest of cells from prenatal specimen types
Analysis and karyotyping of patient samples by standard microscopy and computerized imaging
generates and checks pending and audit lists to help track specimens through the lab, informs supervisor of nay problem specimens
Assists supervisor by performing all additional tasks requested including but not limited to scheduling, troubleshooting, training, employee orientation, communication of information, writing and reviewing policies, procedures, and protocols, interacting with vendors, attending or leading meetings, ensuring QA/QC of specimens and procedures, and any other requested tasks.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Biology, Chemistry, or related Life Science is required.
ASCP certification is required.
A minimum 5 years of experience in Cytogenetics is required.
Experience in identifying normal and abnormal chromosomes and performing a complete cytogenetics study is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
ASCP in Cytogenetics is highly preferred.
Knowledge of all group specific policies, procedures, and protocols.
Knowledge in the following areas of cytogenetics: understanding the theory and applications of clinical cytogenetics, knowledge of equipment, supplies, specimen handling, reagent quality control and safety.
Wet lab Technologist should have expertise in all techniques they are expected to perform (varies based on shift) to include procedure and instrument troubleshooting.
