Overview
This position is responsible for LG&E's underground damage prevention activities which include but are not limited to third party damage investigations, communications with excavators, attendance at Public Awareness regional group meetings, management of locating contractor, and participation on the local utility damage prevention council.
Responsibilities
•Complete damage investigations in the field as quickly and accurately as possible, document findings, and provide documentation to risk management group. Documentation to include photographs, interviews, and any other pertinent information. Investigation should include determining root cause of damage and determining fault.
•Respond to damage calls 24/7 and be available as a resource for damage activity except as provided for by vacation and other pre-arranged time off.
•Perform safety audits on company and contract personnel, including individuals working for Gas Regulatory Services and LG&E representatives encountered on damage job sites.
•Perform “Courtesy Stops” when an excavator appears to be digging without locates. Encourage the excavator to reconsider. Educate the excavator about personal and public safety hazards, Kentucky 811, the state damage prevention law, and the potential for financial liability.
•Monitor prevention methods to reduce third party damages to LG&E facilities.
•Track metrics related to line locates, unlocatables and damages.
•Assist fire and safety investigation team with onsite analysis of cause and effect of third-party damages to LG&E facilities.
•Deliver presentations to industry stakeholders such as state legislators, fire departments, county attorneys, excavators, and other utility companies.
•Represent LG&E in industry forums focused on damage prevention including Kentucky 811 activities, state and local plumbing/developer/excavator trade associations, Common Ground Alliance events, public awareness regional group meetings, the regional damage prevention council, etc.
•Manage the line locating contract. This includes monitoring contractor performance for accuracy, timeliness, compliance with Common Ground Alliance best practices, compliance with the state damage prevention law, and compliance with contract requirements.
•Learn to use relevant LG&E systems, processes, and software to document damages, send communications, and monitor contract locator activity.
•Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications
**Education Requirements**
Associate's Degree in business, communications, or other related discipline or equivalent related work experience
**Required Experience**
+ Two plus years of work experience in line locating and damage prevention
+ Must be able to gain general knowledge of gas and electric utility infrastructure and be able to learn to use electronic equipment and company records to locate underground gas and electric infrastructure.
+ Individual should be able to exercise sound judgment during critical operating situations.
+ Valid Drivers license

Remote Work
The company reserves the right to determine if this position will be assigned to work on-site, remotely, or a combination of both. Assigned work location may change. In the case of remote work, physical presence in the office/on-site may be required to engage in face-to-face interaction and coordination of work among direct reports and co-workers.
