PenFed is hiring a (Hybrid) Data Analyst, Internal Audit at our Tysons, Virginia location. The primary purpose of this position is to provide leading edge analytical support services to Internal Audit’s (IA) operations. The role is responsible for working with internal auditors and business units across the organization to provision, automate, and analyze the data needed to complete audit work. The role will be responsible for the continuous improvement of data quality and analytical capabilities used by IA.

+ Compile complex queries across multiple data sources to design data tables, visualizations, and analytical models that are easily understood by internal and external stakeholders.
+ Support audit testing and issue validation using full populations or improving sample efficiency through the development of sustainable and scalable data models and visualizations.
+ Develop and maintain Business Intelligence (BI), Reporting, Automation, and Analytical models supporting the continuous monitoring of auditable entities.
+ Document analytical support in a manner that meets Internal Audit’s Quality Assurance guidelines.
+ Provision, develop, administer, and maintain BI tools and analytical models used by Internal Audit, and any data provisioned for Internal Audit use.
+ Collaborate with and provide guidance to internal audit staff for any process, product, or tool developed by Internal Audit’s Data Analytics team.
+ Foster relationships with internal auditors, business unit analysts, and Enterprise Data Management team members to improve understanding of auditable entities and how best to analyze them.
+ Work with PenFed’s Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) software administrators to understand its configuration and use to maximize the accuracy and utility of the reporting and analysis of the data from the GRC software.
Qualifications
An equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.
+ Bachelor’s degree in data Analytics, Information Technology, Business Administration, Economics, or related field required.
+ Master’s Degree, MBA, or Certification in Data Analytics, Business Analytics, or Data Science is preferred.
+ Minimum of three (3) years of experience in data analytics or related function required, prior experience in an Internal Audit function preferred.
+ Proficiency in analytical languages such as Python, SQL, and SAS strongly preferred.
+ Proficiency in Business Intelligence technologies such as Tableau strongly preferred.
+ Knowledge of cloud-based data structures such as Snowflake strongly preferred.
+ Strong project management skills with the ability to proactively prioritize and manage multiple initiatives and deadlines.
+ Strong knowledge of IIA Standards and Internal Audit methodologies preferred.
+ Prior experience working in the financial services industry strongly preferred.
+ Excellent verbal and written communications skills required.
+ High ethical standards and a commitment to integrity in all aspects of work.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position will not supervise employees.
Licenses and Certifications
+ Professional certification in Data Analytics or Data Management desired.
+ Internal Audit or Risk Management certification desired (e.g. CIA/CISA).
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.
*Most roles require working in an office setting with moderate noise and the ability to lift 25 pounds.*
Travel
The ability to travel to various worksites and be on-call may be required.
