Minimum Qualifications
Required Education
+ Field(s) of Study: Bachelor’s degree in data science, data management, statistics, an analytic discipline or area focusing on quantitative and data visualization skills, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
Required Experience:
+ At least two (2) years of professional experience in data analytics required.
+ Proficiency in SQL and experience working with large relational databases.
+ Knowledge and experience with database queries.
+ Proven statistical analytical skills
+ Knowledge of database design and management principles.
+ Experience with data visualization tools
+ Ability to handle sensitive data and confidential information.

+ Proficiency with SQL, R, Python, JavaScript, SPSS/JMP or other statistical software packages
+ Proficient in business intelligence and data visualization tools and methodologies including proficiency in advanced concepts in Microsoft Excel, Power BI/Tableau.
+ Knowledge of Banner, learning management systems, academic program sequencing.
+ Knowledge of institutional research methodologies and data reporting requirements in higher education.

Job Concepts
The Data Analyst will assist the AVC of Institutional Effectiveness and Research and perform various duties related to data collection, manipulation/processing/cleaning [data integrity], analysis and reporting [data analysis and presentation], survey design, for institutional assessment/research/reporting. The Data Analyst will be responsible for conducting research [including query development] and analysis for internal reporting [data reporting]; compile institutional data [data management] (e.g. enrollment, retention, student success, financial, engagement data) and provide the campus community with user-friendly data for a variety of college stakeholders [collaboration]; provide in-depth analytical and statistical summaries in support of policy development, decision making, institutional accreditation, compliance and the College’s efforts to secure grants, while working closely with cross-functional teams to gather data requirements and ensure integration of data systems/reports.
This individual will report to federal agencies, state agencies and accrediting bodies, and work with BRCC stakeholders to enhance the understanding, collection, and use of data as well as provide expertise in analysis and reporting. As with all positions in this Division, the Data Analyst must be able to manage highly confidential data with personally identifiable information following, federal, state and institutional policy, while maintaining highest degree of professional practice.

+ Collect, analyze, interpret, and present institutional data (e.g. enrollment, retention, student success, financial, engagement data). Develop, implement, and maintain data sets related to admissions, enrollment, retention, graduation, licensure exams, financial aid, and survey results. Provide experienced analysis of existing data and data structures and satisfy ad-hoc reporting/analysis requests.
+ Design and maintain data architecture and reporting for public and password-protected data visualization dashboards. Utilize data analysis techniques to gather, interpret, and present key institutional metrics, ensuring effective communication of findings to diverse stakeholders through reports, dashboards, and presentations.
+ Develop, query, and maintain databases for reporting. Write and optimize complex SQL queries to extract, integrate and transform data to support institutional research activities.
+ Ensure the timely and accurate reporting to federal and state agencies, accrediting bodies, and other external agencies and organizations. Collaborate with the Institutional Effectiveness staff to provide data analysis, generate reports, and support data-informed decision-making for institutional initiatives.

+ Document data analysis efforts (data sources, reporting specifications, tools, issue/problem resolutions).
+ Perform experienced analysis to interpret and determine validity and quality of data. Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data through routine audits, validation checks, and best practices in data governance. Perform migration and conversion of data as needed in support of analysis efforts.
+ Research and stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and tools and make recommendations for implementation to improve data analysis services and approaches.
