+ Needs intrinsic curiosity and the drive to surface new knowledge and explore unexplained data.
+ Must become proficient at understanding complex fundraising totals, and capable of leading discussions related to this data.
+ Must be eager to learn a wide variety of processes and systems and must proactively cultivate relationships with partners across various offices and campuses.
+ Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Requires superb organizational skills.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Position Description: The Data Analyst will provide analysis to fundraising executives at assigned Harvard Schools and Units. This person will leverage the infrastructure of central AA&D resources and provide analytics tailored to School’s specific business questions and goals. The ideal candidate will possess great listening skills, curiosity, proficiency at learning new technical skills and empathy for our business partners’ needs and challenges.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Client Services
+ Creates analysis for School’s executive teams to guide decisions related to managing fundraising & engagement programs.
+ Delivers findings through effective visualizations as well as narrative summaries and reports.
+ Independently leads presentation of findings, often in small to moderate sized meetings with Senior Leadership.
+ Works with Major/Capital gift leadership at Schools to analyze fundraising portfolios and prospect management. Identifies opportunities to cultivate new donors.
+ Executes analysis that inform strategic decisions for direct marketing and alumni engagement.
+ Develops deep knowledge of unique needs and requirements of client Schools and ensures knowledge is applied in all appropriate queries, documents, and analysis.
Process Improvement
+ Establishes data driven methods to enhance overall prospect identification and engagement efforts.
+ Collaborate with Senior Business Process Analyst to identify critical data workflows and support practices to improve data quality and utilization within Alumni Affairs & Development.
Data Modeling
+ Edits & adapts common data models for ad hoc analysis.
+ Collaborate with developers/data architects to acquire custom data sets needed for analytic projects.
+ Creates forecasting models designed for longer term goal setting and strategic planning.
+ Cultivates and maintains expertise on AA&D data.
