Summary

The Senior Data Analyst position is an integral part of the Sarcoma Department and Moffitt Cancer Center. The role’s primary focus is to abstract & interpret data sets as requested by the Sarcoma Providers. This data is used to produce patient data outcomes and is presented at meetings and published in scientific journals worldwide. This position also plays an integral role in both presentations and publications.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for abstracting demographic, pathological, surgical, and mortality information from medical records and recording accurately into the database; Performs extensive medical record reviews and concurrent chart data abstraction on all required clinical indicators for the assigned patient group and selecting/collecting appropriate data from patient charts relevant to core measures; Assist Faculty with projects that require manuscript development. Prepare abstracts, manuscripts, PowerPoint presentations, charts, and graphs for faculty research or publications; Provide back up for tumor board data, attend clinical or research meetings as assigned to represent Sarcoma Department Research team, and keep current on department information related to projects.

Credentials and Qualifications:

High School Diploma/GED required; Associate’s Degree preferred; Minimum two (2) years’ experience with data analysis;   Certification in Human Subject Protection required or completed within first 30 days of employment; Knowledge of ICD-10 coding is preferred; Able to support the efforts of data abstractors in accurately identifying, interpreting, selecting, and recording cancer & cancer-related components of medical, diagnostic, and therapeutic records; Proficiency with word-processing software, windows based operating systems; Must possess strong organization and multi-tasking skills; Highly motivated and attentive to detail.
