Responsibilities About the role: In this role as a Data Analytics and Reporting Analyst II on the Protections Actuarial Team, you’ll be at the core of our data operations, ensuring that high-quality, well-prepared data fuels our actuarial models and business strategies. You’ll take charge of retrieving, cleansing, transforming, and structuring large datasets from cloud-based platforms, providing the actuarial team with the reliable data needed for pricing, reserving, and risk management initiatives. By automating data processes and developing dashboards, you’ll streamline workflows and deliver insights that drive impactful decisions across our business. In this role, you will: Pull, manage, and structure large datasets from cloud-based platform to support Actuarial Analysis and reporting needs. Perform thorough data cleansing, transformation, and validation to ensure datasets are accurate, consistent, and ready for Actuarial Modelling and Analysis. Design, develop, and deliver reports, data visualizations, and metrics using tools such as Power BI and Excel to provide actionable insights for Actuarial Models and decision making. [Experience with tools such as Alteryx or Tableau is a plus]. Refine, enhance, and automate data extraction, transformation, and reporting processes to increase efficiency and reduce manual effort. Provide and seek training and mentoring from peers for cross-functional growth, learning and career development. Create, implement, and manage tables/views in the Data Warehouse, write SQL queries used for front-end applications, review query performance, optimize code, perform data quality checks for data migration from server to server, as well as data validation of all reports/analysis. Assist in facilitating group meetings by working with business owners across the organization, as well as other key stakeholders, to drive operational standards, ensure business value of metrics & KPI's, and align best practices. Conduct regular data quality checks and troubleshoot SQL or DAX code issues. Ensure data integrity through QA processes and validation of all reporting and analyses. Qualifications What makes you a dream candidate? SQL and Database Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of SQL for data querying, structuring, and management, along with experience in database technology and data model design concepts to support large data handling. Cloud Data Management: Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) for data retrieval, management, and transformation. ETL Best Practices: Good understanding of Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to ensure efficient data integration, quality, and consistency. Data Analytics & Visualization Tools: Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Excel, with the ability to deliver actionable insights through visual storytelling. Experience with Alteryx is a plus. Information Technology Fundamentals: Knowledge of IT systems, infrastructure, and operations, especially in the context of data integration and security. Productivity and Automation Tools: Skilled in using VBA, Sharepoint, Powerpoint, and MS Access to support data-driven projects, streamline workflows, and enhance collaboration across teams. Actuarial Data Concepts (Preferred): Familiarity with basic actuarial concepts, such as pricing, reserving, and risk management, is advantageous for understanding and supporting actuarial data needs. Analytical and Detail-Oriented: Strong analytical skills, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail to ensure data integrity and reliable insights. Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, keeping up with evolving data tools and technologies to drive continuous improvement. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with the actuarial team, IT, and business stakeholders, especially for translating data findings into clear, actionable insights. Data Process Automation: Ability to automate data extraction, transformation, and reporting processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention. Innovative and Independent: Self-motivated with a willingness to explore new tools, techniques, and ideas to optimize data workflows and enhance team efficiency. Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting: Proactive in identifying and resolving data issues, including troubleshooting SQL or DAX code, to maintain high data quality standards. Project Management: Strong organizational and time management skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision. At all times, maintain confidentiality and protect the privacy of information. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience required 2+ years of experience with relational databases and BI tools required 2+ years of experience designing and developing analytic reporting required 2+ years of experience identifying and developing metrics and KPIs required Experience in the auto insurance or service contract industry developing Power BI reports preferred Actuarial Exam support is not provided in this role.
