Data Analytics Intern - Spring/Summer

ABS Group is a global company that provides data-driven risk and reliability solutions and technical services that help our clients enhance the safety, integrity, quality, and environmental efficiency of their critical assets and operations.

ABS Group is seeking successful Intern candidates who will work on a dynamic digital team comprised of programmers, data scientists, and domain experts to meet fast-paced project requirements. This role will be responsible for supporting the digital team in the development of data science solutions and digital applications for improved efficiency, task automation, enhanced analytics, and data visualization.

Working Schedule 

The preferred candidate for this position should be located in the Knoxville, TN area and open to work a hybrid schedule with three (3) days in the ABS Office located in Knoxville, Tennessee, and two (2) days of remote work.

What You Will Do:

Work with functional representatives to develop use cases, requirements, and business logic for digital applications. Develop digital applications to support business needs, including efficiency and automation. Develop solutions to extract, transform, and load unstructured data for further analysis using Python, R, and other languages. Develop interactive dashboards using Power BI and Tableau. Assist in generating analytical results. Participate in key technical meetings and workshops.

What You Will Need:

Education and Experience

Current students majoring in a highly analytical field of study such as engineering, computer science, data science, or a related field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience using common coding languages to develop applications. Ability to work in a dynamic team environment and perform assigned tasks with minimal guidance. High proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs, especially Excel. Superior interpersonal and written/oral communications. Familiarity with basic data science techniques such as machine learning. Familiarity with quantitative analysis techniques including statistical analysis. Familiarity with the software development lifecycle phases of requirements, design, build, and test. Ability to obtain a working knowledge of the ABS Health, safety, quality, and environmental management systems.

Reporting Relationships:

This position reports to the Senior Program Manager.
