Roles and Responsibilities:
 

MITRE is looking for a highly motivated and skilled Data Architect to join our team. The Data Architect will be responsible for developing an end-to-end vision and designing an approach to capture key data architecture information discovered during project research efforts. You will play a key role in creating innovative ways to deliver mission value rapidly through automation, defining new data approaches to tackle complex problems, and developing data-intensive proofs of concept and prototypes. Additionally, you will conduct studies and analyses to support decision-making by our sponsors, evaluate emerging capabilities, and provide independent technical advice. Candidates will: 

Contribute to a culture focused on grace and respect, speed, risk-taking, adaptability, and collaborationDesign, deliver, and document a data architecture with a focus on architectural standards, growth, performance, flexibility, quality, reliability, scalability and security.Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines, data storage systems, and data processing workflows to support project and task analytic needs.Develop and implement advanced data-driven solutions to complex problems that are secure, maintainable, scalable, reliable, performant, and cost-effective.Perform exploratory data analysis, data visualization, and feature engineering to delineate the value of potential solutions to the sponsor.Identify, mitigate and communicate risks related to solution and service constraints by making technical trade-offs.Communicate findings, insights, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through clear and concise reports, presentations, and visualizations.Stay current with the latest developments in data architecture, data management, data quality, data fabric/mesh approaches/technologies, high-performance computing, machine learning, and related technologies, and apply this knowledge to improve existing solutions and develop new capabilities.Assist with defining, developing, prioritizing, and executing the project work plan with specific objectives, deliverables, and sponsor outcomes. Develop and maintain trusted relationships with customers and leaders across company laboratories, work programs, and portfolios. Participate in growing the team’s skills and help mentor internal team members.

Basic Qualifications:

Typically, Bachelor’s in computer science, mathematics, software engineering, or a related technical field and 5 years of relevant experience or Masters / PhD in related technical field and 3 years of relevant experience, or combination of relevant experience and education.US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI. Experience in the following data domain specific technical areas: data architecture/design, abstraction, governance, requirements, profiling, provenance, integration, security, and modeling.Experience contributing to or managing development of enterprise data strategies, including data architecture, data quality, data management, and data governance.Experience with data manipulation, cleaning, and preprocessing using tools such as Pandas, NumPy, or similar.Experience evaluating data technology solutions for maturity and fitness for capability requirements. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.Strong verbal and written communications skills.This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site presence.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s or PhD in computer science, mathematics, software engineering, or a related technical fieldBachelor’s in computer science, mathematics, software engineering, or a related technical field and 8 years of relevant experience or Masters / PhD in related technical field and 6 years of relevant experience  Active TS/SCIFamiliarity with data visualization tools and libraries such as Matplotlib, Seaborn, or Tableau. A strong understanding of mission and digital engineering concepts and how they apply to modeling, prototyping, and experimentation. Experience interacting with stakeholders and developing system user interface requirements, system interface requirements, and system data requirements.  Strong experience in agile software development, algorithm development, and data analytics (to include big data analytics, data mining, and data science) to enable data-driven decisions and insights. An understanding of analytical simulation and prototyping. 5+ Years experience analyzing data in a transportation and/or logistics domain.

Salary compensation range and midpoint:

$122,500 - $153,000 - $183,500 Annual
