The Role:
KYC6, a division of ION Analytics, is a trusted and independent provider of global intelligence for Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Anti-Corruption and Cyber Security professionals. We own and maintain a database of actionable data from 240+ countries and our services enable clients to make informed decisions during the due diligence process and manage risk related to financial crime, money laundering, and terrorist financing. As part of our expansion, we are seeking a Data Associate with proficiency in one or more of the following languages: French, Arabic, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, or German along with English. The job involves the research of individuals, corporations, and their networks via a combination of manual methods and automated processes. An ability to read between the lines and attention to detail are essential qualifications for this role, which is key to maintaining and expanding the database.
The role requires a systematic and proactive approach to continuous improvement around data and content gathering, data management and analysis. Solid research skills and a problem-solving mindset are key to support the growth of the business. Good communications skills with the ability to collaborate closely with teams in different technical and business-related functions and global locations as well as sound organisational skills are also prerequisites.
As a Data Associate you will become an expert on AML compliance and actively contribute to data innovation, increasing value for our clients while fostering an inclusive and open culture.Key ResponsibilitiesDaily monitoring and processing of relevant content published by official sources, among which regulatory enforcement agencies and financial regulators, via a combination of manual and automated processesScreening of media sources to identify in-scope news and events on financial crimes, bribery, and corruption related to high-risk individuals and entities on the regions and countries assignedContinuous monitoring of PEP changes and elections in order to process relevant updates in a timely manner Contribute to content quality and expansion by ensuring active curation of existing sources and increase data coverage Subject matter expertise on legislation and regulation around Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Combating Terrorism Financing (CTF) on the regions and countries assignedHelp with process automation, by supporting the team with building and maintaining data scraping tools and pipelines to monitor, extract, and process data from a variety of sources, especially public websites Continuously enhance and optimize data gathering and workflow processes via automation and subject matter expertiseWork on data point extraction and bulk data clean-up projects through innovative technical solutionsRequired Skills, Qualifications, and ExperienceProficiency in one or more of the following languages: French, Arabic, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, or GermanStrong proficiency in English, as it is the primary working language within the company and teamKnowledge of open-source intelligence gathering (OSINT)Basic knowledge of SQL and programming languages such as Python or Java, especially in relation to libraries and tools for web-scraping and data processingFluency with ExcelPreferred SkillsUnderstanding of AML/CFT Regulations, FATF Guidelines, PEPs and Sanction policiesWork experience in research / compliance / risk management or finance fieldInterest in current affairs, media, politicsHands-on experience with SQL database queries and web-scrapingTechnical expertise with ETL/ELT pipelines, data models, LLMsBachelor’s degree in risk management, Business, Finance, Law, International Relations, Political Sciences, Information Technology (IT)Strong work ethic and hunger for constant improvementExcellent communication and interpersonal skills Flexible with the ability to prioritize and re-prioritize due to conflicting demands Problem-solver with a focus on delivering results Proven capability to work on own initiativeAttention to detail with ability to analyse large data setsSound analytical and critical thinking skillsHighly meticulous and responsibleExceptional organizational, multi-tasking, prioritization and time management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a multicultural team across the globeAbout us
