Data Automation Engineer

Leidos's Digital Modernization group is seeking a Data Automation Engineer to support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) continuing requirement for Homeland Enterprise Information Technology Secure Services & Support (HEITS) for the continual operations and maintenance and evolution of the Homeland Secure Data Network (HSDN) and the Classified Local Area Network (C-LAN) in Lorton, VA.

The Data Automation Engineer is a key role in supporting the DHS Intelligence Cross Domain Services (IECDS). HEITS is seeking a Data Automation Engineer who has experience with Data Automation and Orchestration within production networks. Candidate should be able to design and develop complex solutions with minimal to no assistance from peers. Daily duties include implementing new dataflows technologies and O&M of on-premise production environments.

The successful candidate will possess a strategic mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Primary Responsibilities

Automating Data Orchestration through the DHS multi-domain network enterprise.

Providing operations, maintenance, and enhancement of automated data orchestration applications and processes on production networks.

Decomposing requirements, use cases, and need statements into epics and features with clearly defined acceptance criteria that will be assigned to agile development teams.

Participating and providing subject matter expertise in technical exchange meetings and other customer or stakeholder forums.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline with 8-12 years of relevant experience or Master’s Degree in a related discipline with 6-10 years of relevant experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Experience with programming and data automation (JSON, XML, Python, PowerShell, Linux Shell Scripting).

Experience scripting and configuring applications using common application layer protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, FTPS, SFTP, TLS, SSL).

Database experience such as PostgreSQL and/or MS SQL.

Consolidating data from multiple sources into a single database.

Familiar with Amazon Web Services (S3 Buckets).

Familiar with Git/GitLab, Bitbucket or other source code control tools.

Familiar with team collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence).

Strong problem solving and organizational skills and able to work in a professional. environment.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Strong, self-motivated desire to learn new tools, frameworks, and techniques.

Ability to complete tasking independently with minimal direct supervision.

Ability to work and collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplined engineering team.

Must possess an active TS/SCI Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

DHS or other government contract experience.

Experience working with Dataflow Systems and/or Publish/Subscribe Systems (Nifi, Kafka, ActiveMQ, IBM MQ).

Experience working with Cross Domain Solutions (CDS).

Familiar with Data Analytics.

Pay Range:Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00
