Data Capability Product Owner

The Data Capability Lead is responsible for creating, shaping and owning the vision and roadmap for critical data & analytics products, prioritizing for the needs of the business departments, focused on customer impact and business value, to deliver Chubb’s data and digital transformations.

Being an expert on data driven insights and analytics for business growth and performance improvement, the Data Capability Lead drives the capability modelling and design of end-to-end data & analytics products, acting as the conduit to translate business processes, requirements and outcomes into technical solutions. With a strong product ownership mindset, and representing the voice of the customer, the role ensures the product success by enabling adoption, monitoring usage, capturing user feedbacks and driving continuous improvement.

Experienced in Scaled Agile ways of working, the Data Capability lead collaborates with domain leads, squad members and product owners, across business, data and technology teams to design, build, deploy and run the data & analytics products while also interfacing with department leaders across different digital transformation teams to ensure overall alignment. Using the appropriate communication channels, the role establishes and maintains a strong stakeholder engagement, capturing inputs, feedback, prioritisation and managing expectations

 

Key Responsibilities: 

Develop and continuously improve the data capability framework, including business process mapping, data models, data marts and data visualisation dashboards. Plan and update the data roadmap based on upcoming data needs for the prioritised data products. Understand the business strategy and ensure it is reflected in quarterly plans, epics, user stories and other data work items. Measure end-to-end business processes, identifying business value drivers and KPIs that measure operational effectiveness and business outcomes. Harness and draw insights from large data sets, identify patterns, and interpret trends across multiple journey-based business domains. Accountable for E2E data solutions. Prioritize backlog for Data squads’ delivery. Cross-domain and cross-squad alignment and dependency mapping. Ensure adequate documentation is available. Develop and lead training and education in effective use of data products and related services. Mature data capabilities within segment/domain holistically (data availability, reporting assets, other tooling capabilities). Collaborate with analytics and engineering organizations to scale and industrialize advanced value chain intelligence functions. Comprehend and adhere to all data security policies and procedures

 

Skills & Experience:

7-10 years in product management including product development. BS/MS in software engineering, computer science, mathematics or equivalent in work experience. Experience in insurance or similar industry. Analytical mindset with experience in the design, implementation and measurement of data management and business insights frameworks, tools and strategies. Strong business acumen that will inform creation of business value drivers and KPIs that measure operational effectiveness and business outcomes. Proficient in using data and visualization tools (e.g. SQL, Excel, QlikSense, MS PowerBI) to understand various business metrics, diagnose performance, and inform actionable changes.  Passionate about data and the strategic insights that are derived from it; eager to dive deep into data to identify patterns and opportunities for improvement. Solution Oriented: ability to design and implement full cycle process analytics, roadmaps, and maturing capabilities.  Brings teams/people together to work through challenges. Build trusting and collaborative relationships with Business, Data, and IT stakeholders & teams. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to communicate complex information to matrixed teams.  Energetic, self-starter who can independently multi-task across many different complex initiatives to drive deliverables concurrently. Solid understanding of how analytics and data capabilities are used in Insurance across various rate-quote-issue platforms, distribution partners, third party data providers, etc. Demonstrated experience managing data projects and development of data assets, full lifecycle from sourcing data through user front end - BI / visualization / analytics tools. Experience managing/influencing Agile teams and deliverables. Understanding of cloud, big data architectures, ETL, and data management practices Experience with enterprise business intelligence and visualization tools, with ability to understand development of business metrics, performance considerations, and make informed decisions on report development.
